03.02.2019 It is hard to find breakfast spots that open as early as 8am on weekends. We were meeting up with a friend and tried to find somewhere in boksburg that opens early with a decent variety for brekkie.
Bom Dia has been on my list for a while, so luckily we all agreed. They are known for their breads and other baked goodies, when we walked in the shop was full of breads, rolls, doughnuts, croissants, heaps of Pastei de Nata ( for all those that love them) and other delectable tartlets which i managed to refrain from.
I actually wanted Milho Frito and Prego for breakfast (yes it was 8am so don't judge) but sadly they were out of Milho Frito so i changed my order to an Eggs Benedict, our friend had the Bolognaise Omelette and my sis had the Crostini Melt. It was so nice sitting outside catching some sunshine as it was a beautiful Sunday morning. Every one was in a happy friendly mood.
The place filled up quite quickly and people coming and going for their bread orders. We ordered something to drink, i had my usual Cappucino with Cream, my sis had her railway coffee and our friend had the Cafe Latte with cream. Sadly it wasn't proper fresh cream, more like Orley Whip so we didn't enjoy it as much.
Our food arrived and we tucked in. Every thing made fresh and tasty. My eggs Benedict needed a bit of seasoning, and I enjoyed the health bread they used as the base.
They have some good options for breakfast and lunch, definitely a spot to try again for lunch menu next time. If not, and you just have a sweet tooth then visit to get yourself some of their indulgences. Just don't blame me if you gain weight...
Read moreWe are regular customers at Bom Dia but this is the first time we experience BAD service like we did on Sunday.
We placed our drinks order and then saw the waiter again for food order and that was the last, 20min after us 1 guy sat next to us and people behind us children 5 min after that they placed their order then within 15min the people behind us got their food and the guy next to us 20 min after.
After 1 hour and 15min we still did get our food and no waiter. Then the owner walked past we stopped her and told her what was going on 5min later we stood up as we had an appointment. While standing to cancel the order the owner brings out the food 1 hour and 20min later just for a pancake and 2 pieces of bread with bacon and cheese...
I have never waited this long for any food by any restuarant. Then the owner says the parents have been there a while, but the children only joined the parent 20min after and ONLY placed their order then plus she knew the people. A restaurant works on first come first serve not favouratism.
It usually takes long for food at Bom Dia but never more then 45min. And tet if you look at reviews it is a problem but they not doing anything about it.
Seems like if you are not Portuguese and you dont know the owner then you order will be place at the back again. Rather stay away and go to another coffee shop.
I am very very dissapointed after going there for more then a year nearly every weekend. They just lost a long...
Read moreWe decided to take our friends out for lunch and what a dissapointment this was. Although the service received from the waitress was good - the food at this establishment has proven to be sub-standard. Trinchados (chicken and beef) ordered was so salty, it was almost inedible. It was so watery that it might as well be a bowl of liquid cream with some meat or chicken in it. After mains we ordered dessert, our guest ordered éclairs and they had gone bad (this is a bakery who assured us that all was baked freshly the same day). We returned the éclairs and was offered some other pastries as a substitute. The substitutes were also off!! For take-aways I requested 12 rolls. I specifically asked if the rolls were fresh and when they were baked. The waitress promised me they were baked this morning - got home to discover stale rolls in my bag. It is safe to say that we will not be returning...
