Burning Arrow Spur — Restaurant in Gauteng

Today on the 17th December 2022 at 8pm We walked in, hovered for a few minutes, to be seated. On our lefft side at reception, there was what looked like 3 senior staff members behind the counter not even looking up, even after a waiter on his way out with food tried to get there attention.

On our way to seat ourselves a few minutes later there was probably 7 tables open to our right, which ALL except for one was filled with empty glasses, plates and cutlery, with no one sitting at them,

My husband had to call a manager to be attended to, at which point he took our drinks order, we had to request for menus after the drinks order was confirmed by the waiter. And when our food order finally arrived we had no cutlery to eat with, WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!

One of the tables behind us that was not clean, was still not clean by the time we left 45minutes later.

I have seen this shop alot bussier that tonight, and besides the fact that it was utter chaos looking, I was to scared to trust that anyone had an eye on the front door, what if my child decided go out the front door OR someone walk out with her? Would they even notice the distress?!?! They could not even notice us walking in.

Not quite sure if I want to be worried, upset or laugh. NOT THE STANDARD WE HAVÈ GROWN TO...

We visited Spur 2 weeks ago and had the Burger special. It was really busy but the service was great and the food good. So we tried it again last Monday night for the last night of the Burger special. As we don't have kids we opted to go a bit later. What a disastrous evening. The waitress kept on asking "what" everything we spoke to her to start off with. We tried both Afrikaans and English but received the same response. She messed up the drinks order with both of our orders. When we said it's not our order she blamed the staff. She then came back with another wrong drinks order. I ordered a bottle of water and she replied "a what" again.Our food order wasn't anything better. My partners Burger was the wrong one and I'm convinced she added extra salt to the cheese sauce as it was impossible to eat. She never checked on us after we received the food. My partner couldn't even speak to her about the wrong food order as she just disappeared. She blamed the kitchen staff again when we eventually saw her again to pay. Came to the burning arrow for the sizzling chicken Schnitzel special. Needed a redemption from order call/collect from the Menlyn branch. We were greeted well at the door and taken care of right up until the end. We have always wanted to try this spot. And Glad we finally did. This was superb choice especially watching the bulls vs shark game playing this evening. The smoking room very well positioned with fresh air ! We had crumbs mushrooms starter too share, Wifey decided to opt for chicken thighs meal, I went with the schnitzel, both with chips and onion rings. Boy o Boy ! It was done perfectly. Spur is a childhood restaurant that still hits the spot as an adult. To drink we both had Spur wines merlot and rose, Food absolutely met our expectations. Service was the cherry on the cake we were well served very well by Selby, and checkup on. The manager makes a point to check up on tables too, which helps keep the level of service high.
