When today's modern cuisine meets yesterday's quality!!
I recently dined at CowFish and I must say, it was a delightful experience overall. I gave the restaurant a solid 4/5 rating for Atmosphere, Food, and Service.
The moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a cozy and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for a pleasant evening. The ambiance was just right – not too formal, yet not too casual – striking a balance that appealed to my taste.
Speaking of taste, the food was a true highlight. I opted for the Kingklip and calamari combo, and it did not disappoint. The flavors were harmonious, and the seafood was cooked to perfection. It's not often that you find such a well-executed combination, and I was thoroughly impressed.
To add a touch of variety, I also ordered the dumplings with cream cheese filling. This unique twist on a classic dish was a delightful surprise. The cream cheese added a creamy and tangy element that worked wonderfully with the dumplings' texture. Kudos to the chef for thinking outside the box and delivering such a memorable culinary experience.
Lastly, the service was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. The staff seemed genuinely invested in ensuring that every diner had an enjoyable time. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to accommodate special requests were notable aspects of the dining experience.
While I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to CowFish and would gladly return, I reserved that last star for the potential to further elevate their offerings. All in all, CowFish is a restaurant that blends a welcoming atmosphere, delectable food choices, and commendable service to create a dining experience that's definitely...
Read moreOrdered the DimSum platter for starters, tasty and a decent portion size it was very enjoyable. First of the mains was the Salmon platter, I prefer a level of simplicity in my sushi, but there was far too many sauces added and the taste of the salmon was completely lost for some of them, the Salmon rose and Nigiri were the highlights of the platter.. one of the seared salmon portions was covered in a chilli garlic sauce… not ideal as it was very spicy and again muted the taste of the salmon. It was however a good sized portion and my criticism is mainly due to personal preference. If you enjoy Fireroom you would love this. The other main was the pork ribs, they were tasty but the ribs were not exactly fall of the bone and did have more grissel than expected, the side of onions rings were doughy and found a layer of thin onion skin in one, so I’d suggest going with the chips. The Chocolate volcano dessert was a generic buy in version, which dragged down the entire experience. The Dom Pedro was excellent. Expected a bit more for the price. Perhaps we should have stuck with the steak and fish and not deviated too far from that. Again this review is based largely on personal taste and preference your experience may be completely different to ours. Irrespective to be fair we will revisit in the near future in the event this was just...
Read moreI am currently at the restaurant. I have been here a few times before but today I am beyond shocked.
As I walked the waiters ignored me, I don't know if it's because I'm in my work uniform and that doesn't appeal to their standard. All I needed was a good meal after work and I am leaving here extremely upset.
I stood by the door and finally I am shown a table no word nothing, then a waiter comes to me no smile, no introduction nothing. I am mentioning all this because a white couple sat next me, the floor manager greeted them, explained the menu, the same waiter serving me introduced herself and even further more explained the menu with a smile and a laugh.
I ask for hot water, it's ridiculously Luke warm I had to return to ask for more warm water. It's the little details that annoyed me as to how I was treated at this rate i can only conclude its based on how I looked or my blackness.
The restaurant is picking up momentum in waterfall so the service is getting ridiculously poor. I have been here about five times since they opened bringing friends because I am familiar with the restaurant from Pretoria east.
My advice is either to go for the food or if you want great service tag a white...
