30 Sept 2024: Jan from this spur at Mall@55 Centurion is one person I don’t want to come into contact with ever in my life. I don’t know if it’s the colour of my skin that disadvantaged me and made me so unlucky but the attitude in this man. I’m always at their spur since it’s close by. I call him and say (with a smile) “may I kindly ask for a free sauce (worth R20 with the Monday special) with my meal since it doesn’t come with one, just as a courtesy of being a loyal customer to ur spur (jokingly)”. By the way when he came to me he says “I hear you have a silly question to ask”. I laughed thinking he knows what I want and would agree, instead I explained to him my request (without expecting a yes answer, then he said, I quote “are you saying I must go around giving ppl free sauces?” I said no I was just asking as your loyal customer . He again said “if I give you, I must give the whole spur, and that’s not how I run a business”. Again I said, it’s not a must, I was just asking nicely and if it’s not possible then I understand. Then he said no mam with the most rudest and arrogant tone. I never felt so embarrassed in my life. The waiters were even scared to call him when I asked them to call him so I could ask him. You could see they fear him and from their eyes you can tell they work under the most meanest person. I’ve never been this traumatised by a restaurant that I support more than any. It was not even about not affording the sauce, cus I even paid the waiter a good tip. This restaurant is even new for that matter to be treating its customers like that . See me a that spur again, kill me. Jan is not one I would want to be conversing with in any...
Read moreI've been going to this spur for a long time. In recent weeks, more regularly than before. I've had one or two incidents where the food was sub-par, but then when I brought it to the manager's attention, it was resolved immediately, which is great. I would give 5 stars if it was about just food and service, the restaurant isn't bad, but there is one problem. Their audio control is absurd. Whenever there is a birthday (or, heaven forbid, more than one), you're in for some auditory devastation. They ramp the volume up so high that you can hear the birthday song from several shops away, loudly. I bet I could hear it in my car if I was sitting in the parking lot. I intend to inform the manager and see what happens. I shall update my review as soon as that is done. At this stage, I shall be going to a different Spur or possibly a different restaurant altogether instead when I want to go out. This has ruined the experience. It has upset me to the point that I think 2 stars is a lot. Note: covering your ears with your hands doesn't even reduce the noise to the point where it doesn't hurt. Edit: I have since returned to this spur unprompted and to my delight, the birthday song volume seems to have been reduced to a reasonable level. It is still loud and all that, but not to the point that it is actually painful to listen to. Thus, my rating can become 5 stars and I can recommend this spur....
