News Cafe Mall @ 55 Monovani — Restaurant in Gauteng

I was very disappointed at the service I received at News cafe mall at 55 monavoni branch. Arrived there and had to wait at the door for quiet some time before anyone attended to us, we ordered our food and waited over 30 minutes! And only after 30 minutes of waiting the waiter tells us that they don’t have chips, which came as a real shock because it took him an entire 30 minutes to realize that there were no chips! I didn’t ask for a salad as a substitute for the chips, but they gave me breakfast with a salad (under the basis of an assumption that I was going to have the meal with salad!) I was very disappointed about this and to top it off they didn’t have mushrooms which are supposed to come with the meal, but I was not informed about this yet again while placing the orders, yet we still paid the full price for our meals even though the items in the meal were missing. My tea was also delivered with no milk, which led to me having to go stand at the counter to request milk cause my waiter didn’t even ask if I wanted it. That was not good value for money. I had to go to the closest Wimpy to get proper breakfast. This news cafe branch honestly...

I wish there was a zero star rating to be honest the food that was ordered and delivered was completely diffrent. The quality of the food was a disgrace to be honest. Bland undercooked underseasoned. The meat was so tough and of such low grade you could almost not cut thru it with a steak knife. Its like chewing a peace of rubber. When we called them to ask them to fix the incorrectly supplied food we simply got told they could not replace it as the delivery company could not do this. Which was a lie as i phoned the delivery company and they stated they would deliver for a fee. Asked to talk to the manager and got told you are talking to the manager which i will never believe because no manager would ever talk theire customer down, talk over a customer, state that its not theire fault the delivery company...

I just wanted to give some honest feedback about my recent visits to News Cafe at Mall@55. I really enjoy the vibe and the drinks — that part never disappoints — but unfortunately the food has been consistently disappointing.

I once ordered chicken wings that were cold on the inside, like they’d been frozen and not properly heated. The sauce was okay, but the wings themselves were really off. I decided to try again and ordered a burger on another visit — same thing. It was warm on the outside but red and cold inside. I couldn’t even finish it.

I’m saying this because I genuinely enjoy coming to News Cafe and I love the drinks, but the food experience makes it hard to justify going back. I hope this can be looked into because the quality really brings down the...
