Disappointing - Avoid This Place If You Have Kids!
Disappointed with our visit to the Emerald Creek Spur on September 14, 2024. During this visit, my toddler was injured in the play area, hitting and bruising his head after being bumped by another child.
Despite his clear distress, the childminder did not report the incident or check on him. He came on his own crying.
When we spoke with manager on duty, she apologized but she unsure how to handle the situation telling us she has to wait for the owner of the place to advise how to handle the situation. Managers Brenda, Noxolo were on duty and so confused on how to act, which was mindboggling and very frustrating.
It took over 1 hour to receive some incident form and footage, during which no first aid or any basic care like an ice pack was provided yet my child was in pain and crying.
I want to highlight several concerns: neglect by the childminder, lack of first aid response, unclear knowledge of procedures by management on duty, no reporting of accident to the other childâs parents, delayed medical assistance only after we got home, and a troubling threat regarding the deletion of incident footage by the management on duty. How do you threaten a parent with a hurt and bruised child about footage?
After reporting the issue to Spur customer-care since we could not interact with the threatening management there, a Spur ambassador named Mark responded promising to act swiftly, but has been silent for a month, showing no care or seriousness about my concerns. I have had to keep following up with them.
As a long-time Spur customer, Iâm deeply disappointed and appalled by the handling of this situation at a supposedly child-friendly restaurant. I hope this feedback leads to improvements in staff training regarding child safety and emergency responses to prevent similar incidents in the future. No more Spur for us!
PS. Our waitress, Mbali was super amazing!!! 5 star...

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to your team for the way you handled the recent mishap we experienced during my daughterâs birthday celebration. What stood out to me most was the diligence, professionalism, and genuine care with which you addressed the matter.
You didnât just acknowledge the situation â you went above and beyond to make it right. The re-do of my daughterâs birthday was so beautifully organized, the staff were warm and attentive, and the thoughtful little gift you gave her truly made her day extra special.
We left feeling valued, appreciated, and reassured that Spur really does take its customers seriously. Thank you for turning what began as a disappointing experience into a memory filled with joy. We will always remember your kindness and accountability.
A special thank you to the manager assigned to us for the day, Sikumbuzo, and our waitress Sihle, they both went out of their way to make sure we were VERY well taken care of. Exemplary effort, thank you guys!!!!!! My little...
Read moreWe tried to go to the Spur closer to the Garden Court Morningside hotel on Friday night. Walked in at 9:10pm and got shown the door as the kitchen was now closed.
We called Emerald Creek Spur and your staff said we are welcome to drive to your restaurant to have a meal (We are from out of town and only landed at Or Tambo at 8pm.
The staff were amazing and we didn't feel rushed at all, even though we were one of only a few tables in the restaurant.
Steaks were prepared perfectly! Drinks were brought to us in not time at all. Your staff remained very attentive to our presence in the restaurant and the service was top class!
Thank you for keeping your kitchen open for us on Friday...
