Hennie's Moreleta Restaurant — Restaurant in Gauteng

Food was lovely, but the waiter was extremely rude. If I am friendly towards you, the least you could do is return it. But instead this gentleman kept taking the other people's orders from the table instead of mine. I asked for non alcoholic savanna . He told me there wasn't any. I then looked through the menu and saw that there was non alcoholic Hunters too. I then opted to walk to the bar to see if there was any. The waiter then lost his cool and told me in a very irritating tone that he just told me that there wasn't any. I don't see the harm in me looking for myself? He then went out of his way to help everyone on the table with orders, ignoring me. He kept smiling at the other guests, even though I was being extremely nice, he kept being stand-offish towards me. It was clearly visible as the rest of the table also noticed it. I wanted to pay for the bill, so that my friends didn't need to pay for it, so I stood up and went to the cashier, so that my friends wouldn't see me paying for them. He then said in a very irritating tone that I need to sit down he will comw to me. I tried to explain why I wanted to pay as my friends might get angry if I pay for them. He didn't really bother to assist me and sent me to my seat again. Even after al this I tipped hom fairly generously for service that was not on par. As I was the one paying and tipping him and he never bothered to actually listen to me or take my order. Gave him the tip, he didn't even look at me or thank me at all. Is this the norm nowadays? I've always tipped great at other restaurants and people are always just too happy to receive extra. Maybe if he was a little more friendly he would have gotten more. Anyway, this is the second time this has happened at the same branch. I will not come back here again, just...

Watch your bill — especially if you've had a few!

We went to Hennie’s a little buzzed (my girlfriend was sober and driving), and ordered 4 Jagerbombs — which were on special for around R150. Paid. No issues.

Later I went back to the bar and ordered 2 brandy specials and a Red Bull for my girlfriend. We waited about 10 minutes to pay at the bar, but ended up just going to sit down. When the bill came, it included not only the 2 brandy specials and Red Bull, but ALSO another 4 Jager shots, 2 Coke Zeros, and the Red Bull was charged separately — which didn’t make sense.

When I challenged the bartender about it, he got defensive, insisted he’d “check the cameras” and “call the manager” if we didn’t pay. I told him go ahead — we’re not paying for stuff we didn’t order. After another 20+ minutes, he came back with a corrected bill (R180). I still told him to make it R200 because I get that mistakes happen.

Instead of being decent about it, he got cold and refused the tip. It felt like a scam attempt that didn’t work. Honestly makes me wonder how many other people he’s pulled this on — especially if they’re a bit drunk and not double-checking their bills.

Avoid this place if you plan on having a good time. They’ll try sneak things onto your bill and turn it into a whole argument. Not worth the energy.

It’s unfortunate I didn’t catch his name, but I hope this can serve as a warning to future patrons. Be especially careful when you’re running a big bill or if you’ve had a few — they clearly count on people not noticing extra charges. I’ve since heard that this isn’t the first time something like this...

Well we wanted to try this place out, 1st visit call no one answered, after the 3rd attempted someone did we wanted to reserve a table outside.. {no smoking} the manager said just come we are not that busy. When we got there there was no srat available outside. Well we had to sit inside. Its clear that they only think of the smokers cause non smokers need to sit inside, and then the smoke anyway blows into the restaurant. Well as per the coverment gazette you are not allowed to serve food in areas where people are smoking. So Hennies does not make room for non smokers outside. And then no drinks menu, thats bad you dont know what they have you need to guess and when you start asking they dont havr stock of anything...... I mean go to the freaking bottle store and buy stock if you dont have....... Must say thr food was tastefull but that does not make good on the fact that i need to inhale smoke of other people, its hot and still the aircons does not work fot the past month....? How long does it takes to make up a drinks menu...... Come on Jonathan...... I am a carpenter and i will do it in less that 2 days. Typed, printed and ready for the waiters........ Will be difficult goimg back there as i travelled mote than 45 km to have a good time but clearly we were not even...
