The restaurant was very quiet when we went in around 2pm. The waiter was attentive and very professional. The place was neat and tidy. Good place if you want to chill. However the food was a big disappointment if you looking for "authentic Durban" curry. Being an ex Durbanite I have been on the hunt for Durban style food but mostly struggle to find it according to thee claims of being "Durban style". I ordered the mutton bunny which really looked delicious but failed big time on its flavor and worse had a boiled flavor and very couchy smell, potato was also very hard. Lots of meat though but sadly I could not eat it due to the smell which put me off. I left all of the the meat and bread and didn't ask for a doggy bag.My sister ordered the mutton breyani which once again passed on looks but failed on flavor dismally. We ordered the Masala tea which they said they had but gave us ordinary 5 roses as they had run out of Masala tea but didn't tell us and charged us for which I didn't appreciate . The tea though was good. I had read the online reviews prior to going in and was really hoping it was not as bad as some had posted but sadly some the bad food review claims on the meat having a bad smell and the taste turned out to be very true. The veda however though paper thin was good and so was the chilli bites we ordered as starters. It was very sad we were really looking for a good Durban curry place but I am afraid this is not one of them. Good to visit if you not looking for authentic Durban food. Staff was very good and food arrived in good timing.

This was our first visit since Lugz Indian Cuizine moved from the Randburg CBD to these premises on the corner of Witkoppen and Market Str. These new premises, although not newly erected, are spacious and boast a colourful landscape. Not only the authentic aromatic Indian food, but also the tall palm trees on the property transport one to the famous Blue Lagoon (Lugz) dining and recreational spot on Durban's beachfront, at the mouth of the Umgeni River! Only the salty spray and the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks lining the Lugz promenade are missing. Here along Witkoppen, there are at least reasonably good views, especially from the terraced outside seating and a colourful kids playground. Still, the flavour of Durban's famous curries came through clearly in our meal. The chicken curry with roti was good, while the mutton curry with rice (beautifully presented with a touch of safron garnish) was close to perfection. The Butter chicken too, was very good. We loved the soji, which was served with a generous topping of fresh cream, garnished with a sprinkling of multi-coloured almond. Our Waitron, Buhle, served us with a smile and politely answered our questions. She also brought us finger bowls with welcome warm water and lemon slices! The Phoenix has risen from the ashes... Shall definitely visit Lugz again, especially to try their amazing-looking Durban-style Mutton Bunny Chow!

I recently visited Lugz Indian Cuisine after receiving a recommendation from friends in the Facebook Bunny Chow group, and I must say, the experience was fantastic overall! The highlight of my visit was, without a doubt, the **bunny chow**. It was absolutely excellent—flavorful, perfectly spiced, and a real treat for the taste buds. It lived up to the hype and was exactly what I was hoping for when I walked in. If you're looking for an authentic and satisfying bunny chow experience, Lugz is the place to go. The only minor letdown was the **cheese and corn samoosas**, which unfortunately didn’t have the amount of cheese I expected. While they were still tasty, the balance of flavors wasn’t quite there without that creamy cheese element. That said, everything else about my visit was exceptional. The service was friendly and efficient, the ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the rest of the menu looked so tempting that I’m already planning my next visit to try more dishes. Lugz Indian Cuisine is a great spot for anyone craving authentic Indian flavors. Highly recommended for their bunny chow and overall experience—just a slight tweak to the cheese and corn samoosas, and it would be perfection!

After seeing some good and NOT so good reviews I decided to give Lugz a chance today as I have never been there before and there is a first time do everything right? We get there and were seated pretty quick as there were not many people there(red flag for future ventues). We knew exactly what we wanted 1X mutton bunny with extra gravy, 3 mince samoosas 3 cheese and corn samoosas and 2X veda. Food took a little while to come although all us indian folk know exactly what the cook time is on those dishes maybe 2 minutes to fry the veda giving the benefit of the doubt here but maybe 6 minutes for all samoosas and yes they are even fried from frozen(FACT!!!). About 30 to 60 seconds to dish the already prepared curry into a stale 1/4 loaf of hollowed out bread. Any efficient well run indian take away or restuarant knows the above. So food eventually arrived. Portion control and no not price control because price control is always perfect at these places but portion control is tight must have been a quarter of a teaspoon maybe less of cheese in the corn and onion samoosa. This menu item should change to corn and onion with a dash of cheese samoosa. The mince samoosa just had no taste, like the rough ground mince was steamed and put in the the pastry. The chilli dip sauce was the best tasting item on the table for me. Now we get to the veda tasting...OMG who here has eaten a legitimate SOUR veda ??? In all my years eating veda and samoosas at home or at a connections place or the countless functions since birth a long time ago. Notified the waiter about the sour veda cakes which he simply just removed from the table. Not once did he return to apologize and to even ask of we would like something else. Oh and this place does not give saucers (little) plates at all to eat ur starters neither do they give straws for your drink if u dont ask for it. As mentioned the bread was not fresh, the curry was ok and we finished all the curry without most of the bread. The owners of the place seemed to be entertaining his guests in the back part of the restaurant making a hell of a noise. Gosh they were loud, no consideration for your own customers...your Bread and butter. And the owner smokes in the restaurant all the time there was constant cigarette smell in almost our entire time there. I really dont understand how these people take our hard earned money and get away with pathetic restuarant and service like this. Oh and predictably the vedas were on the bill which I asked to be removed and they did. However still zero interaction or apology from a manager or owner. Never again. I hope I can save a few of you out there with this review. What a nerve or how we say cheek to give your restuarant the abbreviated or short name from a place that was so loved by all Indians in KZN. Your food will never match the Lugz that...

So I believe in allowing. Second chance.. about 16 years ago Lugz was in Randburg. Maybe more.. that's when I had my first experience of finding a coacroah last night we visited Lugz on Witkoppen. We were the only customers.. food took forever. My daighters burger was so drenched in sauce that it fell to pieces when she tried to eat it. The bill took forever and worste off.. hygiene was non existant. To the owners, presentation and cleanliness goes a long way, you guys dont even keep things properly packed away from the customers.. admin things are stacked up against the wall in the vicinity we eat.. the dust is evident! To a naked eye.. and how do you place fold up tables that people eat at in the toilet.. or is it because you not busy and no one will see lets place it in the toilet???? With charcoal..and your bathrooms you can keep clean please... with something to wipe our hands with.. Hygiene is not negotiable and really you can do better. Try cleaning the webs off the roof where we eat. Those that order vi Uber, please know the place before you order else you too will have strands of hair in your food or a coacroah or not realaie they maybe using utensils kept in the toilets to make your food!!! Never again. And I told the waiter this.. one would thing he would call the lady out from the kitchen to chat .. but instead he said ok thanks sorry....

And why do you only respond to positive reviews? Do you not think you owe customers feedback or an apology? Or is it all...
