Myself and my girlfriend just finished eating dinner at Lupa in Lynnwood Bridge. We had excellent food, and service from our waitress. Yet our evening was ruined when we both had paid and had proof of payment on our sides within both our banking apps, however my slip was not printing. Then the manager despite seeing proof of payment from me in an email and a FNB app proof of payment from me refuses to let us leave and claims the machine is the only proof of payment. He also said the waitress would have to pay if something went wrong, which I think is horrible. I have left my phone number with the waitress and manager. We ended up walking out after the manager still kept refusing to let us leave. I even asked for a higher ups number because the waiters and bartenders even agreed with me yet only the manager disagreed. He refused to give me any higher up details and withheld my girlfriends slips as proof of transaction. Please could someone help me take this further as the manager should not be treating anyone this way and the waitress does not deserve any mistreatment from this occurrence. She does also not deserve any deduction from her paycheck. Please can I be advised on how to take...
Read moreMy husband and I were looking forward to our first visit to Lupa today. It’s a lovely restaurant and my husband enjoyed his calzone very much. My Lupa pasta however, for R180 (with gluten free pasta), was very disappointing. It was supposed to contain cherry tomatoes, peppers and chicken. I had a total of two small tomato halves, 3 small slices of pepper and 6 small pieces of chicken which I had to hunt for. If you like pasta absolutely drenched in sauce with nothing much else, this is for you, but if you actually want all the ingredients listed on the menu, you won’t find much of them. The table next to us ordered the same and I said to my husband, I can’t see anything red in there, then mine arrived. Really disheartening for a first visit and the waitress was not very interested as said oh dear maybe it’s dissolved. When she asked how the food was and I said again, disappointing, she said she will tell the kitchen and that was it. I don’t know if the sauce is pre-made in a big pot and just decanted without much care, or if they were running out of ingredients. Either way, for the money paid, it was not worth it at all and I wished I had ordered...
Read moreA first visit to a Lupa Osteria Italian Restaurant, Lynnwood Bridge, and definitely an enjoyable, quick pre-theatre lunch-on-the-go. (Maybe remove the ('Weekday only' - in the tiniest of font size) Lunch Specials signboard over weekends?). Comfortable indoor & outdoor seating with picturesque floral surroundings and views, even from the inside dining area. Decor is pleasant - not overdone, and bathrooms were well-appointed and clean. Service was pleasing, boasting an extensive Italian cuisine menu, and love the fact that they have half-portion options as well as kiddies menu. Took in the aroma of freshly-prepared pizza, and was then treated to a viewing (only) highlight of their acclaimed Lupa Signature Pasta (Parmesan Wheel Fettuccini Carbonara) being fired up by a wizard of a chef at an adjacent table. Maybe we'll try that next time... but The Wizard of Oz next door was calling, so we hastily relished our generous portion of really well-seasoned Wood-roasted Hake in lemon butter on bed of spinach with my choice of Roasted veggies, in addition to a very delicious half-portion of Chicken Alfredo Pasta. Think I am hooked, so shall definitely...
