Terrible Experience – Food Not Fresh, Family Got Sick
We dined at Ocean Basket with two adults and two children. The restaurant was empty, and we specifically asked if the food was fresh before ordering. We were assured it was. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
We ordered a variety of dishes — sushi, oysters, a burger, the Mother's Platter, and a Platter for One — spending around R1500. Shortly after eating, both children experienced vomiting and diarrhea. Not long after, the adults also became ill.
We raised our concerns with both the waiters and the manager, telling them the fish was not fresh and meals thst were served was cold. They dismissed our feedback, even though it was clear something was wrong.
This experience was not only disappointing but also dangerous. It ended up costing us more in doctor visits and medication. It’s unacceptable to serve unsafe food, especially when customers specifically ask about its freshness. Please be cautious if you choose to eat here — your health is worth more...

The food quality is always so bad, this was my second time there, my 1st time was also horrible in a space of a year. I thought there would be some improvement that's why I visited again. The sushi I ordered was not appetizing to say the least, the rice was very soggy, still very wet and I could hardly see and taste the salmon in it. The mussels I ordered were swimming in the lemon sauce, it was over powering. The watermelon cordial I ordered was just so sweet, I wanted to dilute with water.
Please do something about your kitchen staff/chefs. A change is needed. I can't be spending my money and not getting value for it. This franchise is such a disgrace compared to others. The food quality is just so low. I would appreciate if next time I visit I get value for my money. I felt like I have wasted my money on the food I ordered...
Read moreI went to this Ocean Basket on a Tuesday afternoon when it was empty and my goodness the service was so horrible. I asked the waiter to give me two minutes to look at the menu and 30 minutes later this man hadn’t come back, please understand that this waiter then comes back and gave me the stankiest attitude. The manager , think his name was Lloyd, was equally as useless because he didn’t do anything to improve the situation because eventually when he did take my order, he brought me the wrong item inspite of the fact that he wrote down exactly what I said and for some reason he refused to take my good and drinks order at the same time when I expressed my desire to do so because I’ve been waiting for so long.
This was an extremely disappointing experience, I’ll never step foot at this...
