Worst experience ever on the 26th of September 2018 I went to spur for breakfast in lakeside mall. Want to start off by saying my waiter was amazing.
My waiter sat me down at a table I remember it was just before 9am I ordered my coffee didn't take long as I was really happy with that. What I was not happy about is how do you clean a restaurant at 9 am in the morning when you have customers already sitting down??? I was a restaurant manager I know you arrive clean a restaurant before its time to open that is what pissed me off.
I was there at least an hour and a half to 2 hours can't really remember but what I noticed is not a single manager came to see if everything is alright and how was the food even if it was only once I would of been happy ending there was 2 managers on duty that I had seen.
Was time to pay for my bill and I had just gone to the toilet quickly as I walked in I had seen that the toilets were not clean properly and that the floor in the cubical had toilet paper behind the door from the day before how I know is that the floor was not clean.
When I went to pay for my bill I had given my spur card and 50 rand note to pay my bill and after a while a manager came to me and said head office said that there was no voucher on the card which I told them it was a lie as I was at that same spur the Saturday or Sunday before and the hostess and the one manager confirmed that I had a voucher, so I paid the amount that needed to be paid.

Read moreI was served by a very nice waitress, patient, friendly and just a darling. Your manager, seems to not really like his job or people much. I enquired about changing an order & he said he’d get back to me to confirm if he can, instead of coming back to me he just told the poor waitress what I had initially ordered would be her responsibility to sell or pay for. Was it so hard to come back to me and tell me he couldn’t change it ? I would’ve just stuck to what I had initially ordered without any qualms. What poor people & problem solving skills from him.
Also, the reason I was asking to change my order was because your specials are not well communicated, not by the waiters or even your menus, the only reason I saw the special I was asking if I can change my initial order to, is because i looked across the table from me & saw it on display.
Common restaurant etiquette is that you are informed of the specials when you get the menu! Also, I know you have your own policies but giving a waiter the responsibility of selling or paying for an order that could’ve just been voided since it wasn’t even made yet is not the reasonable...

Heading out to Spur is always so exciting but my experience at your restaurant was spectacular. My waiter was Tshidiso who always goes above & beyond for me (she has served me before). I would also love to applaud Thando, Sbusiso, Ntombi & Lwazi for continuously checking up on me & making conversation whenever Tshidiso was busy with other tables. Such friendly staff who clearly show passion for what they do. Big ups to the manager Khaya who’s also super friendly. Thank you for maintaining such determined staff, you have a great team beside you.
