Square Time — Restaurant in Gauteng

My sisters and I went to this place for the first time on the 12/01/2023. We enjoyed it so much. Our waiter Simon, the best, he even recommended some drinks for us and gave us the jellybaby shots, we enjoyed it thoroughly. We even said we were going to go back on Monday for the pizza special. Then came the 15/01/2023 we came back, a waiter (I forgot his name) directed us to a table, and he recommend to us Luigi pizza that we would enjoy it and we also ordered drinks. Then another waiter came “JJ” , worst waiter ever. He has no manners at all. Firstly he hurried my sister up by telling her to order quickly because he has other tables to carter (okay rude). We didn’t say anything, we were quiet. He had the attitude like we were annoying like he didn’t want to serve us. I don’t like to pull the race card but he was very racist. With the white people he was very friendly and kind and even made jokes but with us he was cold and rolling his eyes. Now it was time to pay for bill, we split the bill and were short by R4 then I said let me go to the car and the coins to top up inside of swiping, then he said very rudely and shaking is hand “so you didn’t even add the tip”. We kept quiet and he left then he went to gossip to his colleague very loud that there is no way we will not tip him. A tip he didn’t deserve it . He is very rude, he doesn’t have manners. I don’t want to every see him serve me ever again! He could have at least waited until we had left the premises before he started talking about us. I came back and I still tipped him. JJ needs to be called to order. We are paying customers it’s not like we were eating there for free. It was by far the worst service...

Today we had the privilege of having Sunday lunch buffet @ Square Time ....

The restaurant has a very tranquil atmosphere , by the seating at the children's play area ... even with geese and some fish in the ponds ....

The play area seating is covered by three waiters simultaneously , ensuring that there is minimal waiting time on orders , our waiters were very atentive and not once did we have to prompt for them to remove a empty plate , also , when our drinks neared the botom of the glass , they came over out of their own , to offer a next round , well done to ..... Albert , Pardon and Mike .... you really took exceptionally good care of us .....

The food was fit for a Kings banquet , the starters , mains and desert were impeccable .... very well prepared and also well presented ....

The buffet was under the watch full eye of manager Ruwan , who i personally saw at the buffet 4 times plus , checking that each chafing dish is well stocked and also made sure that the quality of the food was maintained .....

Not one single dish was dry or soggy as is sometimes the case on buffet , allas , the square time buffet , the food looks scrumptious , and your mouth actually gets excited about whats on buffet ....

We were also introduced to a Belgium beer @ Square Time called "Leffe" that is seriously good beer .....

My family is so upset! Square Time is our go-to place when we don't feel like cooking, and it usually has really good food. But today, that wasn't the case. We came 20 minutes before the kitchen closed and asked if it would be possible to still order and enjoy our meal, and they said it was okay. They took our order, and we waited for our food to arrive. We were so disappointed - our "build a basket" meals were rushed, and it felt like they gave us whatever was left over from previous customers. The portions were small, and the ribs we ordered barely had any meat on them. On top of that, the waiter made a mistake with my sister's order and charged her more for something she didn't want. When she mentioned it, he plainly said, "If you don't want it, don't eat it." Mind you, we were really hungry, so my sister said it was fine, even though it clearly wasn't fine. We didn't have time to order drinks, and they gave us the bill while one of us was still eating. They were indirectly kicking us out. We've never had a problem with this establishment before, and we understand that we came in late. We just wished that our server could have been honest with us from the beginning and told us that it wouldn't be worth it to actually sit down and dine with them 20 minutes before the...
