We had a wonderful lunch at the spice Kitchen Lynwood on the 25th of February 2023. We were welcomed by a friendly gentleman and promptly shown to our choice of table. The restaurant had only 3 other diners at that early hour so we were spoiled with choice of seating. The waitress was kind and patient as we took our time studying the menu and asking questions about the great variety of dishes. Having some elementary knowledge of Indian cuisine I trick questioned her on some of the menu items and she patiently replied all our questions with accurate perception. It was duely noted that she was adequately trained and had an extensive knowledge of the products she was promoting. Her recommendations was spot on. My husband ordered a full tandoori chicken with an unapologetic portion of fries. I ordered the chicken biryani and a Latcha paratha for us to share. The drinks ordered was served promptly and the wait for our food order was within an acceptable time frame, just enough to inspect the decor and ambience of the overall restaurant which was, to be brutally honest a little questionable. Enough said. When the food was served it arrived at the table with an entourage of servers. The chicken still sizzling on the hot cast iron plate. The explosion of aroma filled the space between us on the table as a feast was laid out before us. The tandoori chicken was divinely soft and velvety in texture. The flavour profile pure authenticity. Fries chrispy and well seasoned. The paratha was unbelievable! Obviously freshly prepared, it was flaky and melted in my mouth. My biryani was colourful and well flavoured. I didn't mind the "cheap oil" as someone else mentioned in a previous review. If I would add my constructive opinion, I would like to mention that the accompanying condiments, like the mint chutney and the "atchar" was inadequate and not generous at all. Especially when it is such an exquisite tasting Atchar. On our next visit we will be asking for a replenishment without being ashamed. Because of the generous portions of food we only shared a Mango Lassi for desert. Which I haven't had ever before. It tasted of fresh mango not chemical colours and flavourings. It was refreshing and not overly sweet, something I will definitely order again. The menu is quite extensive and we only had dishes that we were familiar with. We would most definitely like to visit again in the future and experience something more adventurous because of the positive experience we had on our first visit. Thank you for the wonderful meal and friendly experience.

Very nice Indian cuisine location in pta that always tries to be authentic with all menu items. I personally am addicted to Chicken Korma....and so far this the only restaurant in my surrounding area that prepares it properly.....the garlic naan bread always made super good too. Good place for celebration dinners since they do best to meet customer requirements for that nice cosy place to sit an enjoy a meal with your partner. Place is super popular with pretoria locals especially those living around that Lynwood Road areas near the complex. Tables always get fully booked for special date night like valentines day 🌹an so on So book in advance on those big nights else you your only option will be a take away for home dinning which is also not bad as the food is the star of the show an to me....doesn't matter where I'm eating it. Always enjoy the heart meals they prepare....but don't play with fire if you. Ot good with hot stuff🌶️🔥🔥 Play it safe first if you not confident on handling the spicy stuff cause they really don't play games with hot 🔥🥵 orders an such. Literally find freshly chopped green chilli added in a very generous portion. And it really is fire.....don't even want to attempt extra hot. Stick to mild or less first time then get start experimenting once you got a rough idea. Choosing before you know the lvl of heat....could make you not want to eat even though it's super tasty.

Second time I've given Spice a try and both times I've been disappointed. First time was via a delivery. My food was very oily and all over the place. My first impression of the restaurant was a fair enough one. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has such a warm environment. Upon arrival it took a few minutes for someone to spot us. He said the restaurant is full, but we could wait for five minutes and he would seat us (I can't understand why he didn't suggest we wait outside and when a table is ready we could move inside). After about 10 minutes we came back and waited again for someone to spot us. We were seated at a pretty small table which was very cramped with decorative items. As a table snack the restaurant gave us the traditional three condiments and this VERY oily deep fried I don't know what. Really wasn't pleasant. We order the butter chicken, chicken Korma, a lamb dish (All mild), Minced lamb naan and a cheese naan. The butter chicken was far too sweet for my liking and I really didn't enjoy it. The chicken Korma was good and s was the lamb dish. Although the food wasn't very Indian for me. The cheese naan was still a little raw inside. The service was really good and the waitress was helpful. We asked for a traditional Indian drink which they said was out of stock. Sorry to say,but there are far better Indian restaurants within close proximity compared to Spice.
