Burger King Olympus Village (Drive-Thru) — Restaurant in Gauteng

Just a warning...

Over the weekend we went through the Burger King in Olympus. Once we go to the first window, there was alot of commotion in the back. The lady taking the order was distracted and kept looking back to ask the kitchen staff questions. Eventually, she gave me the slip. we drove through, we did the usual check in the bag to see if everything was there... Everything was.

HOWEVER, something made me check the slip as the amounts didn't look right, nor did the commotion and whispering. Half way out of the shopping center, I noticed that there was extra stuff added to my slip, which I did not order. Extra stuff adding up to about R150.00.

We drove back and I knocked on the locked door to speak to someone (as you are not allowed to go inside apparently). After about 2min of waiting and watching panicked looks of the people inside, someone came to ask me what was wrong. I told them that I was there to collect the stuff that was put on my slip but not given to me.

All of a sudden I was met with 5 people checking my slip. All whilst they were whispering and arguing with each other in native tongue. The one gentlemen kept repeating "Are you sure you want that many" as they had put 3x 20 piece nuggets onto my bill. I repeated myself three times stating "Yes, I paid for it, so I want it". After more whispering and arguing, I got the extra items added. Even though I got it, I was made to feel as if "how dare I question" or that I have just made them suffer. The staff are rude. I was so distracted with how DISGUSTING dirty the place was inside whilst listening to them try figure out how to fix they problem.

Then it started to click... The skelems add food for themselves onto your bill without you even knowing. When driving through the drive through, CHECK YOUR SLIPS!!! You think because you got what you "ordered" in the bag, that there shouldn't be anything wrong. So you wouldn't check your slip, meanwhile, they have added stuff on for themselves. They get away with it because you are not normally so aware as you are either in a rush etc.

After I got into the car, the same 5 or 6 people dealing with me in the front, stood around looking shocked and kept staring at us as if we had just...

From bad, rock-hard BK crunch patties, to tasteless soda water "soda" and now oreo chunks spread sparingly in an oreo fusion that definitely does not look like what is advertised (might as well have bought a plain ice-cream). I don't know why I keep trying with this place at this point. It continues to disappoint. They've recently built a new Mc Donald's in Olympus down the road. Rather go there if you're looking for a good oreo ice-cream. This is a more recent comment from my experience today, the 26th of April 2024. Below was my original from some time last year (2023). Bad service quite often. Been there many times and developed anxiety at some point. If its not the employees shouting at you, its them giving you attitude. Too often my 7up was flavourless soda water and no one would want to help. I just come from there right now and today was the last straw. When the website clearly states that operating hours are until 11pm, I got there at 21h55, they ignored me until 22h01 and told me that the drive through was closed. Mind you I have been here past 10pm many times before, so it really just made no sense. If you dont like giving service, then just don't be a customer...

I recently visited Burger King and had a pretty good experience overall, earning it a solid 4/5 from me. Here’s the breakdown:

The Good: The Whopper is still a classic—juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. The flame-grilled taste is what keeps me coming back, and it didn’t disappoint this time. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned, and the portion sizes were generous. I also appreciated the quick service; my order was ready in no time, even during a busy lunch hour.

The Not-So-Good: While the food was tasty, it wasn’t exceptional. The burger felt a bit smaller than I remembered, and the veggies (lettuce and tomato) could have been fresher. The dining area was clean but a little dated, and the seating wasn’t the most comfortable.

The Highlights:

The Whopper lives up to its reputation.

Room for Improvement:

Fresher ingredients would elevate the experience.

A modernized dining area would make the visit more enjoyable.

Overall, Burger King delivers a reliable fast food meal that hits the spot when you’re craving something quick and familiar. It’s not perfect, but it’s consistent and satisfying. I’ll definitely be back for...
