This is the second time booking the Rooftop Restaurant for an event. I had issues the first time but luckily I arrived early enough to solve the issues. I spoke to the manager and he assured me it was an isolated incident and to use their services again. I host events for women that require a calm atmosphere for reflection and healing which I have communicated with them before. This time I arrived and they had booked three events at the same time which makes absolutely no sense for their space. It was really full and clustered. My clients were then interrupted by their very rude waiters as they were removing things on the table. My clients felt extremely violated as they were discussing sensitive issues and there was no regard for that. I then asked for take away meals for the people who couldn’t attend and I was served in broken take away boxes as a further “screw you” after all the bad service. At some point I was in tears and they showed no remorse for their double booking and inconsistent communication. They have no regard or respect for customer service or rather black Christian women (clearly). Everything had to me moved around to accommodate people of their faith and culture, I saw the owner ordering them around a person I had never seen before who has never shown interest in my complaints. I can safely say I will not be returning there and will urge anyone who is not Indian or Muslim not to go there. They are a bunch of unprofessional liars with no ethics, etiquette or respect for people. See the pictures attached...
Read moreOn Saturday evening, my husband and I decided to have supper at The Rooftop Cafe, situated in Rosebank. We were slightly apprehensive, as reviews about this establishment were posted a long time ago and the Google reviews were mixed with people having both positive and negative experiences. Our experience, however, was fantastic! There was a private function so unfortunately we couldn't sit outside, but we were kept in good spirits by the excellent service of our attentive waiter, named Promise. Having heard about the desserts at the Rooftop Cafe, we decided to opt for what was classified as "light meals", and I ordered half a chicken and chips, which was flavourful and grilled to perfection. It was a chicken tikka style, which i enjoy, so patrons who prefer a saucy chicken may not enjoy it the way i did. My husband opted for a beef burger, which he enjoyed (and he is quite particular about burgers!) For drinks, i chose a lemon and mint mocktail, which was refreshing and accompanied my grilled chicken perfectly. My husband opted for a apple, cucumber and ginger smoothie which wasn't to my taste as the ginger was quite strong. After this superb meal, we had no space for dessert! It's safe to say that the Rooftop Cafe has exceeded our expectations, and we will be...
Read moreThis surprisingly well-hidden gem is apparently quite well-known; and deservedly so! The place is a treat for all of the senses!
My partner took me here for a great fillet of steak. We're not generally steak people, but after some recommendations from his colleagues, we tried it out - and were we in for a treat!
The first thing that gets you comfortable is the friendly staff! Not one of the waitrons ceased to make us feel welcome and comfortable! They are bubbly and friendly and give you just the right amount of interest! I noticed how some tables wanted to be left alone. We always go for the full experience, and that is what we got instead.
Secondly, the decor! Prepare to feel as though you're at a wedding! While the fairy light, and glittery runners, and centerpieces, and Bedouin tent covering, and astroturf patio might seem gaudy to some, I loved it! It felt special and decorative and aesthetically pleasing!
And then, of course, the steak: Beautifully dressed in a mustard basting and perfectly prepared (I had mine medium-well, and my partner had his well done). Soft and juicy on the inside and slightly charred and crispy on the outside. Served on mash and peas.
Absolutely phenomenal restaurant! Ticked all of the boxes and I highly...
