So this is a difficult review to write. If you are wanting a quiet place to work between meetings or school runs and don’t want anyone pandering to you and you are happy to grab a coffee and muffin … then it’s great. Service or a meal in the afternoon… disappointing. It’s as though the waiters are tired after a lunch rush and if you are not sitting right next to them, you have to call for a menu, then to order and then for the bill. The food is average … I was disappointed as I ordered a Caprese salad for lunch and got a snack. It’s pricey for what you get. My pic attached indicates my meal and at the cost of R85. So yes I’ll be back to work, but for lunch, not so sure. Such potential!

This coffee shop has consistently improved over the years. The staff are so efficient and helpful and always on the lookout for how they can improve the experience. The decor has also improved and I really like the greenery that has been incorporated into the decor. The coffee shop offers both inside or outside seating and the open space is so well designed flowing out of the main Pick and Pay without making you feel as if you are sitting in a grocery shop. They offer quite a large selection especially for breakfast. This location makes this such an easy place to get access to and there is ample parking both outside and under roof.

I dont really enjoy the food at Thyme on Nicol. It is the third time I am ordering food here that I am not enjoying. We wanted something small which we could nibble on while having drinks they offered nuggets( which was actually chicken schnitzel sliced up) haloumi and chips. The chicken was bland , the haloumi was nice and the chips were actually nice. The service was very good. We had a waiter called Zama who took care of all out needs. The drinks were flowing never having to wait long for it. They need to expand their spirits though. The views are absolutely fabulous

My wife and I met here for a quick coffee and cake date during her lunch break. Firstly as we walked in all the wait staff just stared at us, eventually we asked if we would like to be helped, I said yes and proceeded to move to higher seated small table outside on the balcony. The waitress who asked to help us had vanished. She never followed us. Eventually Amanda asked if we had been helped, we said no, not yet, she responded ok and walked off, 10 mins later she returned and asked if we still hadn't been helped, again I said no and she brought us menus. We were left for 15 mins before a drinks order was taken. My wife ordered 5 roses tea and I ordered a coffee freeze with a still water. 10 mins later Amanda came back and asked if I want still or sparkling. I clarified and she left. She then returned with my feeezo and rooibos tea for my wife. I had to go find her to advise that the tea was wrong. She corrected it and brought the right tea. Then we ordered a slice of chocolate caramel cake and lemon rosemary cake. Amanda proceeded to bring lemon rosemary and red velvet cake. We advised the order was wrong and eventually the chocolate cake came. I asked Amanda if she is too busy cause why are the orders always wrong, she just laughed at me. It then took me asking whilst leaving the restaurant if I can have the bill to pay as nobody had returned to the table. Only positive was that the cake was amazing....

Excellent food and atmosphere (~ 2017) UPDATE June 2024: From Hero to Zero - yes. Thyme, which used to be a good and busy venue with a fun menu, has dropped to the bottom of the list. I have to revise my original review. Already, when the waiter presented the menu cards, I noticed they were frayed and over-used. The dishes were the same-same and not refreshed in a long-long time. Service was somewhere between non-existent and absent. I had to get up twice to search for a waiter. Enough said. However, the worst was still to come - pun intended. Our food - when it finally arrived - was un-eatable and reminiscent of something a 4-year old could cook. The taste was fishy, the meat was sinewy and grossly under-cooked. So much so that in fact I asked for a take-away box, and without making a scene I got up, paid and left quietly. It was a sad moment to see a previously good venue fall so deeply...

Been coming here for a while now and especially the Wednesday sushi special. The quality and service has really gone down. They need to be more adventurous with their sushi. One week they had a great dish of tiger prawn balls and then its no longer available cause they cant get the prawns. I am told to come the following week and they will have them. Special trip made and then told they not available. There is no consistency and they even cut the sashimi thinner than usual. Sushi conveyer belt broken so everyone is leaning over each other trying to get sushi with their hands touching other plates of sushi while they do this. The couple next to me commented that they used to eat here every Thursday for stirfry special but stopped that because it changed and was no longer good. Thyme on nicole cutting corners to save money and losing customers. Overall not a...
