Tony's Chinese And Takeaway And Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Gauteng

I thought this was an excellent place. Until I went there recently for some Maki.

I ordered 2 portions of salmon Maki. Tuna was finished. This was lunch time. Then after receiving the order, I discovered mayonnaise in the Maki. First time I've been given Maki with mayo actually in the Maki.

I'm allergic to eggs so unable to eat mayonnaise, and asked them to replace it, as it was not disclosed that there's mayo. I was flatly refused and told to buy more, as this will cost them money. I then told them that I'm unable to eat it because I'm allergic to egg and could die. I received no sympathy. Then they relented and said I must pay for 1 portion. I still refused and reminded them of the laws of South Africa and that they're meant to actually disclose allergen information. I was told that they're not South African and therefore the law does not apply to them.

Eventually they finally remade my order less mayonnaise, after I threatened to get authorities involved.

I was then scolded and yelled at in front of other shoppers that next time I must say no mayonnaise, and that I've now cost him money and that this was wrong of me. Scolded like a child!

So sorry Tony, but you will not see me again and I will also tell people to avoid your shop like the plague. To be treated like I was is unacceptable!

Was left very underwhelmed by this Chinese take out joint. I had only heard of amazing food and happy tummies.

Sushi? 3/10 Rice so dense and overly sticky, it couldn’t retain any soya sauce, and loads of it too. The only positive was there was substantial salmon. Sadly very little avo or mayo. Very upsetting.

I was recommended this local spot by a close friend who often gets sushi for events from Tony's. I ordered some of my favourites, prawn nigiri, salmon roses and salmon bean curd. I was so impressed by the freshness of the salmon and the generosity of it. It was neatly presented and so delicious.
