This restaurant calls itself South Indian but the menu is North Indian and actually more like Pakistani food. The Tandoori Prawns I ordered were stir fried frozen peeled tiny prawn tails served on dry jewelled basmati rice with an undressed slaw. Impossible to create this dish in a tandoor oven. It would only possible in the shell and on a skewer. I ate one prawn and abandoned the dish. It was inedible. I had also ordered Onion Bhaji which is advertised as gram flour. It was made with wheatflour and totally lacking in flavour and was served with a dreadful bottled sauce filled with preservatives. I was hungry and ate five of the six Bhaji served without the dipping sauce. I had also ordered take aways a Kadhai Mushroom, Aloo Gobi and Chicken with Spinach (I was given a Kadhai instead). The kadhais were heavy, over spiced and tasted the same with no subtilty of flavour. I have eaten a lot of this style of curry especially in Brick Lane, London. This restaurant would be bricked up there. The owner\ manager offered no alternative to the prawns and charged me in full. Proud of his vittels no doubt. There are cooks around the world who would cringe if their kitchen produced this quality. My bill was R466. I...
Read moreFirst time eating here. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. We started with the Vegetable Platter. An array of battered vegetables with a dipping sauce. Unfortunately the potato was not cooked though and the green coloured bites were also doughy in the middle. Never the less, tasty. Filling though. We ordered prawn, lamb, chicken and vegetarian mains with additional naan, roti and rice. We loved it, lamb and chicken were super tender and flavoursome. It was very mild, chili wise, which I was happy with. The veggie curry also tasty. We left very satisfied and still had left overs. Good value for money. The only negative thing was the noisy cars racing past, as they are on the main road. Not the restaurant's fault. Thanks Mumbai for a very...
Read moreWe were a little hesitant to try this place given the recent reviews. Nonetheless, We decided to give it a go and we were pleasantly surprised. This is obviously a less expensive Indian restaurant. The setup is basic. And the premises are clean. The food quality was very good. Portion sizes were on par with most Indian restaurants and very reasonably priced. There were staff/people standing outside when we arrived and whilst the staff didn’t really have a warm, welcoming attitude in the least, they were not rude. I think it’s probably just a cultural difference. Service was average but fast. We didn’t wait...
