The room that we booked ended up being a little disappointing. It was quite a bit smaller then it appeared in the pictures and the room requires some maintenance. The provided coffee in the room was Chicory, and the provided salt and pepper shaker was broken. The kitchenette was hardly stocked with anything, the time screen on the microwave was broken, a ceramic portion of the toilet was broken, the TV remote had dead batteries when we got there, and the bathroom door required a large amount of force to open or close it. That being said, it is in a good location, with an excellent restaurant (Muse) across the road. There is an in-room safe, and the view of the lagoon is absolutely stunning (picture attached). There is a provided breakfast as well that is quite good with another beautiful view of the lagoon.
Nevertheless, the lodge's manager is truly the best part of this place. He was friendly and welcoming. He walked us up to the room and offered to help with our luggage. He then informed us of the history of Lagoon Lodge, and ensured that we had everything we needed. We forgot to select the breakfast option during our booking, but knowing this, he was quick to offer us breakfast on the house for our first morning. He then personally took our orders and proceeded to come join us at the table with a map where he showed us several locations that we could go explore. He brought a laptop and showed us pictures, and told us everything that we may encounter on our journey. This manager made this stay quite enjoyable and he pointed us towards some incredible views. He is a very friendly guy and makes Lagoon Lodge a very...
Read moreWe stayed at Lagoon Lodge during our visit to Knysna for the Knysna Marathon, and were truly impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the manager, he went out of his way to assist us and genuinely cared about our comfort.||||However, a word of CAUTION for future guests: if you book a bottom-level room, be aware that the canteen directly above creates quite A LOT of noise you can't escape. While this is mentioned in the fine print on Booking.com, it only truly sinks in when you're there, especially if you're visiting for an event like we were, where rest is essential. Unfortunately, after two sleepless nights, we were too exhausted to take up the manager’s kind offer to move us to alternative accommodation, and decided to cut our trip short.||||That said, the views are beautiful and we really couldn’t fault anything else. Just be mindful of the room choice depending on your needs. A big thank you again to the manager, your kindness didn’t...
Read moreThe staff here are truly amazing. The location is perfect. You have a view of the Knysna Lagoon form every room. The whole lodge is perched high against the hillside, with a beautiful perspective on this wonderful town. Appels is the best host you could want. He had loads of information about the area and activities in the vicinity. The breakfast here is properly good. Jams, eggs the way you like them, fried mushrooms, lots of bacon, toast and the famous omelettes and the very delicious French toast. This place had a proper soul and hospitality takes on a new meaning here. Highly highly...
