After a lot of brain-storming & weighing all our options South Africa was zeroed down as our Honeymoon destination. It was a wise decision as we surely feel it is a perfect blend of adventure, romance & scenic beauty. The icing on the cake was Self Drive. It’s relatively easy & economical to drive in South Africa. We decided to start from Knysna, discover the Garden Route & end our trip at Capetown. ||||Knysna is situated in the heart of the Garden Route & is the perfect town to stay while exploring the surrounding areas. We chose Guadeloupe Self Catering Apartments. The place is owned by Albin & Jenny Kilzer who also run a cookery school downstairs. We stayed at their light house apartment for 4 nights. The apartment is well furnished & immaculate. It has a perfect balcony to enjoy the beautiful views of the lagoon. The Kitchen is equipped with all the kitchenware & appliances courtesy our gourmet host. Jenny had kept a bottle of wine in our room for us to celebrate our honeymoon. She is a sweetheart & even helped us with few groceries from her kitchen on our first day since we arrived late. The apartment is serviced daily & the house keeping staff is very courteous. The Wi-Fi worked well & the parking is secure. We even visited the Kilzer Kitchen stall at the Friday market & loved their food especially their desserts. ||||Till date we have never come across a host as warm & lovely as Jenny is. Often we felt like family than guest. We will definitely recommend the place to everyone & would be privileged to host her if they plan to come to Mumbai, India. ||||||Regards||Jaikishan &...
Read moreWe had the privilege of spending 3 days at Guadeloupe Self Catering Apartments. We stayed in The Bright room and it was beautiful. The view over the Knysna lagoon is perfect and the apartments have everything you could think of to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Well equipped kitchen and comfortably furnished. But the highlight is being able to attend the Friday night long table. This is legendary in Knysna and well supported by the locals. Albin and Jenny Kilzer are the owners, hosts and chefs in a wonderfully efficient kitchen. We had the best meal of our entire trip. The hosts are so welcoming and friendly to everyone, you can see that this is what draws people back time and time again. A visit to Knysna is not complete without a visit to the Klizer Kitchen. We can't wait to go back to the apartments and the kitchen again. ||We visited about 2 months after the horrific 7 June Knysna fire and the damage to Knysna is heartbreaking but they need our support and we found that the service and welcome that we got was amazing.Considering that these folks have lost their home just behind the Apartments in June, their resilient spirit and caring nature is outstanding and deserves to be supported. They are evidence of the Phoenix rising...
Read moreI have stayed in a lot of accommodation in SA and around the world 🌎
This is the neatest and cleanest one ever!
We took 2 quaintly decorated, self catering units. Both had everything we needed to cook, make coffee etc.
The bedding and towels are crisp and clean.
The unit is cleaned daily which is rare for self catering.
The accommodation is close to grocery stores, shopping and restaurants.
We were able to go see the Knysna Heads, Gin/Beer tasting, markets, The Waterfront and a place to canoe is close by. The lads went fishing as well.
The host is helpful, friendly and accommodating. She gave us cooking tips (she is a chef) and advice on local fun activities. You must buy a bag of her rusks. Handsdown the best I've ever had!
The garden is beautiful and there is a sparkling pool.
Our unit had a beautiful view of the Knysna Heads. There is a newly built deck downstairs where you could have sundowners.
