During the majority of the year the services is good ( Tai Shan not busy ). This year we decided to stay in Mosselbay during December and suggested Tai Shan to family and friends. I have never been to Tai Shan during December. I've been there three times during December and on all occasions we have received very disappointing service and food. The last time we visited Tai Shan, waited for more than 1 hour for our food to be served. The sushi was served at room temperature (not as recommended by industry standards) After taking a bite of the Sashimi, we realized that the Salmon was off. (also served at room temperature and rotten /spoiled). The restaurant did replace it with new plate of fresh Sashimi. (My question is, how many clients were served with this quality Salmon) We all know what the consequences are with eating rotten / spoiled fish products. Besides the quality of food, the waiters / servers was very unprofessional and unorganized, serving/stretching food and drinks over one row of seats and the turn table to clients on the other side instead of walking around to clients and serving the clients in a professional manner. Also some other clients that came in quite some time after us, received their orders way before we received our order (even other clients noticed the great delay in orders being served and commented on it) Besides the unprofessional staff; because we are regular clients to Tai Shan, our regular waiter; told us that we qualify for discount. This was said and promised for the last 3 visits to Tai Shan. We enquired about this offer the last 3 times and every time the same answer; they dont have cards anymore and are waiting for new cards arriving from Cape Town...
Recommendations to the restaurant: Install air-conditioning (comfort to clients) Serve sushi at colder temperature (recommended industry standards, comfort to clients) Increase number of sushi chef (clients won't wait hours to be served their food) Train staff how to interact with clients in a professional and organized manner.
I would have normally recommended Tai Shan over any other sushi restaurant in the Mosselbay area, but I might need to change my opinion on this and give other sushi restaurants in the...
Read moreMy partner and I went here Christmas eve so the experience might have been affected due to the time of year.
When we arrived we had to go to the counter and ask to be seated. After we had asked to be seated they took half an hour to assist us and when we were finally seated, the table and the floor underneath had not been cleaned and still had the mess from the previous customers (the table had been empty since we got there so they had ample time to clean the area. There were also clean tables available where we could have been seated instead)
We were a little annoyed at this point but we wanted to try the sushi as it looked quite good from the images on their page. Unfortunately after we had been seated, the staff did not attend to us for a further 15 minutes, at which point we decided to leave.
The restaurant is (or was) severely understaffed and the staff that were there were...
Read moreI feel like either people here don't know Chinese food... Why would they give such good reviews.
Siew Mai is appalling I had to spit it out, Sweet and Sour Pork was delivered with no sweet and sour sauce, which missed the point entirely, was just deep fried pork dough balls. Chicken Chow Mein - Do not do it!
I know this place can't possibly be owned by Saffa Chinese or Chinese people as they served sweet Thai chili sauce which seems to be the standard these days or maybe Saffas are just too naive to know what good Chinese food is and can be - this is not it!
Before you roll your eyes, I have travelled Asia extensively and the hawker centers in Singapore are by far better.
Definately not worth the R600 for 3 starters and 3 mains. Should have gone out to...
