John Dory's Shelly Centre — Restaurant in Hibiscus Coast Local Municipality

Located in the Shelly Mall Shopping Centre, Shelly Beach, KZN, John Dory's is a casual, informal, family friendly, chain restaurant, catering not only for the busy holiday makers, but also still having a loyal following of the regional locals. As would be expected, the menu is extensive, to suit all tastes, however, the emphasis tends towards a large selection of various very tasty fish dishes...enticing for all ages! Most days will also have a "daily special" on offer - for instance, half-priced, well prepared and presented Sushi plates and platters...a big hit, offered at the Sushi Bar! Fresh Oysters are also available in season. Younger guests are offered an interesting Children's Menu, with something to suit all tastes. In addition, a well organized kiddies play area is strategically integrated into the decor. Service is very attentive, helpful and friendly and prices are in line with similar family restaurants. A good value for money family restaurant.

As to be expected, it is not quite the place for an intimate, cosy, romantic dinner for two!

Well serviced, Handicapped/wheelchair ♿ restrooms, are available in the Centre. Parking is plentiful either in the covered parking garage, or in the extensive outdoor parking area of the Shelly Mall, with car guards in attendance - a small tip is appreciated. Handicapped/wheelchair ♿ parking spaces are provided.

Five-Star Experience from Start to Finish! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. Our waitress, Hilda, was outstanding — warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. Hilda guided us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, with the perfect balance of professionalism and friendly charm. We were avid John Dory clientele in Pretoria when we still resided there. Those were marvelous restaurants. Coming to the coast for a holiday, we had to have a proper ocean experience by our well known franchise name holders. To my disappointment, the sushi that was on Wednesday special tasted as if it went round conveyer belt by the sushi bar, a few trips around too many. Was rubbery, fried bits was overdone. By the other they served the sushi of your choice after calculating the prices, even if it is different, and put them on a platter plate, with each person a side plate, and own wasabi, ginger and bowl spy sauce. Here you had the plastic colour coded as it came from the conveyer, just as is, to your table and you have to eat one empty quick so that you have a plate to serve the others you ordered on as not to eat from the table top. Needless to say, I resorted to my old faithful Adelpracht to end the session and proceed back...
