I haven't been to Wildsprout for a while now (to sit down/eat/takeaway) and I now know why. Something never quite sat well with me, but I was in the area and thought to pop in. It was evident now when I went back what it is- I just observed, whilst my smoothie was being resentfully made, and truthfully the atmosphere here is off, the staff seem miserable! Needless to say the high staff turn over which makes the consistency of this place questionable. No one greets when you walk in. I stood at the counter for a while, was ignored, and eventually had to say hi, could I order etc. The smoothie (which was awful) gloopy and just badly, carelessly made cost me R98 (I did add extra protein - but still!!) and normally I would add a generous tip, which I did not this time round, but honestly if I did we are looking at R120 for a small smoothie! I worked in the restaurant industry for a good while, I am not one of those painful complaining customers who have never worked as a waiter before (we all know those types) so it kinda pains me to have to write this review, but come on...

We tried the chicken Thai roll (yummy!), the green salad - zucchini pasta with spinach, avocado, feta and broccoli - even the teenagers ate it!. The chicken burger was enjoyed as well as the vegetarian burger - be warned they are large and messy to eat! The only non hit was the ostrich burger - my son didn’t like the mushroom sauce.or flavour in general. For desert we had the banana muffin, chocolate slice and marble cake - all fine, not amazing, we found the cake a bit dry. They have a good selection of wine and beer and some great smoothies.
Service was friendly, ambience was relaxed, and price was good. Overall, if you are looking for local, healthy produce …and you are hungry…this is a good option.
One thing maybe to note, we tried to order from here on Uber eats beforehand, but for some reason, not given, it was cancelled last minute. So we walked there instead. We asked them and they said they didn’t know why it was cancelled, hopefully it was...
Read moreI often enjoy Wildsprout's amazing sweet treats and fresh meals but I was very disappointed after trying their frozen meals including the mushroom risotto, and two different types of veggie burgers. The risotto was something I could have made at home for far less money, but the worst thing about this meal was that very over-cooked brown rice was used instead of traditional arborio rice (sacrilege). Perhaps call it 'brown rice dish' rather than risotto. The veggie burgers just fell apart and the flavours of the burgers were just not good at all, too many combinations of veggies and spices that didn't quite work together. Further, for 4 very small patties, the price of the burgers was just too much, nevermind the strange flavouring/combinations. I am sorry to give this review and I hope it helps to improve things, but the frozen veggie meals need some revision in terms of method, ingredients, flavouring...
