We recently visited Ocean Basket, a long-time favorite of ours, after not having been there for years. Our anticipation was high, and I’m pleased to say that, generally speaking, it didn't disappoint. The restaurant still has the inviting and lively atmosphere that we remember so fondly. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The ambiance, combined with the pleasant décor, set the stage for an enjoyable dining experience. As for the food, Ocean Basket delivered on most fronts. The calamari was perfectly cooked—tender and flavorful. The mussels were equally delightful, fresh and well-seasoned, making for a truly satisfying dish. These seafood staples reminded us why we loved this place so much in the first place. However, there was one notable hiccup: the prawn sauce was quite salty. While the prawns themselves were cooked well, the overly salty sauce detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. It was a bit disappointing considering the otherwise excellent meal. Despite this minor setback, the overall experience at Ocean Basket was still positive. The quality of the seafood, aside from the prawn sauce, was top-notch, and the vibrant atmosphere, even for the midweek, added to the charm of the restaurant. It's a place that continues to hold a special place in our hearts, and we look forward to our next visit, hopeful that the prawn sauce will be just right. In summary, Ocean Basket remains a delightful spot for seafood lovers. The Pavilion installment may not be the most scenic but the welcoming ambiance and staff, made for an enjoyable dining experience. We'll definitely be back, perhaps to the Ushaka Marine World one, as this place still holds a sense of high-caloric, artery-clogging magic for us.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the quality of food I recently experienced at your establishment. During my recent visit, I ordered the sharing platter, but unfortunately, all items were marred by overcooked, horrible tasting and smelly oil, and clearly not fresh produce. As a loyal customer, I have always held Ocean Basket in high regard for its commitment to delivering fresh and delicious seafood. However, the food I received during my last visit fell far below the standard I have come to expect from your restaurant. The seafood dishes were notably overcooked, resulting in a tough and unpleasant texture. Additionally, the taste was subpar, lacking the freshness and flavor that Ocean Basket is known for. It was evident that the ingredients used were not of the quality that I have previously enjoyed at your establishment. It was evident from their bitter, margarine butter sauce (supposedly butter). As someone who values good food and dining experiences, I found this experience to be highly disappointing and unacceptable. I hope that you will take this feedback seriously and take the necessary steps to improve the quality control processes in your kitchen to ensure that such instances do not occur in the future. Side note; the less said about the sushi……… the better because wow, goeie genade!!!

NOT ONLY WAS THE SERVICE POOR but the quality of all the food served was extremely appalling, to the point where my family and i had severe food poisoning. the salmon sushi which we ordered was a pale colour it was as if no effort was put into making the sushi. The oysters that we ordered were cloudy and had an odour. i ordered the salmon platter for one and my sister ordered salmon favorites. the salmon in the rainbow rolls were a pale pink as if it had been lying out in the open for days, both of these platters were utterly disgusting in both presentation and taste to the point where my entire family have been suffering with diarrhea and vomiting ever since eating at Ocean Basket Pavilion on Friday the 13th January 2023. It is so disappointing to think for such a renowned place that the conduct of the staff as well as the quality of the food served is of such an egregious manner. The bill came to a cost of over R700 and for that price any human would expect a reasonable plate of food but this is not the case at Ocean Basket Pavilion.

I WILL NEVER EAT HERE!!!! WENT TO THE MOVIES ON FRIDAY AND WAS PLANNING ON BOOKING A BIRTHDAY DINNER WITH THEM, BUT I SAW A FILTHY WAITRESS COME OUT THE TOILET CUBICLE AND WALKS STRAIGHT OUT AND BACK TO THE RESTAURANT...... WHEN I GOT TO THE RESTAURANT THERE WAS A MALE WAITRON WHO APPROACHED ME. I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND ASKED FOR HIS MANAGER AND ALSO LOOKED AROUND FOR THE WAITRESS BUT COULDN'T SEE HER DOWNSTAIRS. THERE WERE 2 OTHER WAITRESSES STANDING BY THE DOOR WHO ASKED ME WHAT HAPPENED. AFTER EXPLAINING TO THEM, THEY BOTH SAY THAT THEY ARE ALLERGIC TO SOME SOAPS AND THAT MAYBE THE WAITRESS WENT TO WASH HER HANDS BY THEIR BASIN IN THE RESTAURANT HENCE I CANT SEE HER! THEY ARGUED WITH ME AND DID NOT CALL THEIR MANAGER. SO THEY DON'T WASH THEIR HANDS AS THEY'RE SO SENSITUVE TO SOAP??????

I SAW A MUSLIM LADY WHO KEPT LOOKING AT ME WHILST STANDING BY THE BEVERAGE SECTION SO I'M NOT SURE IF SHE WAS THE MANAGER BUT CLEARLY A TEAM IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THEIR LEADER AS AHE KEPT LOOKING BUT NEVER APPROACHED ME TO SEE WHY I'M TALKING TO HER STAFF ESPECIALLY AFTER THESE 3 USELESS WAITRONS STUCK TOGETHER AND HAVING THE FILTHY WAITRESSES BACK ON HER POOR HYGIENE!!!! IF ALL THE STAFF AT THIS BRANCH ARE SO DISGUSTING AND RUDE, I WILL MAKE IT CLEAR TO MY FRIENDS, FAMILIES AND FOLLOWERS DON'T EVER EAT HERE. RATHER GO TO JOHN DORYS, JIMMYS KILLER PRAWNS , JACK SALMON AND DEFINITELYTHE BEST OB BRANCH...
