Wimpy — Restaurant in Madibeng Local Municipality

Met a friend for a quick breakfast at the Wimpy! Lovely meeting someone for breakfast, good quick food and a friendly and efficient waitress. It also rained last night so its a lovely balmy summers day. So now you ask yourself what could go wrong, well nothing and everything. From nice and balmy to seat searing blasts from a airconditioning system suddenly turned onto heat... yes heat! In South Africa in summer a waitress switches the heaters of the aircon onto heat!! So I ask them to please switch it off as it is completely bonkers, the waitress then informs me that “ some customers” complained about the cold? Now come on! Really? So after I informed the waitress that I would post this on google reviews they eventually found the missing remote and switched it off. The manager that I asked to speak with was apparently vey busy in the kitchen and I could not speak to him/her. Apart from this absurdity the food was quick, well prepared and nice. This Wimpy is in a beautiful spot, great garden, wonderful play area for kids. They used to display an award at the check-out that they won for service.

We love to go there for the kids, even though we definitely feel the place is slowly falling from its former glory.

I think management is the problem, there is clearly no system, no one around to even notice that it is hurting them.

We went there today so the kids could play (restaurant was about 80% capacity). We saw a table of about 15 people leave when they were told there's no ice cream for their waffles, after they were already waiting 48 minutes for the order. Guests at another table were upset over their drinks order.

Our experience? We waited for service till the kids were done playing and asked us to leave. We then got up and walked out. No-one even knew we were there.

My family as I went to Wimpy about 2 weekends ago. Just before the renovation started. To say it’s was disappointing is not quite enough. I’ve been abroad for over a year and was looking forward to my wimpy cheeseburger. Needless to say I regretted this decision immediately…. Under new management or not… this was bad… our drinks took over 20 minutes to come- with only three tables- WHY?

We all ordered food… which came bit by bit at least 40 minutes afterwards… and received cold… all 4 meals… some even found hair in the food…

With no waiter willing to come to the table after hearing the discussion from the waiter station… this was just the cherry on top…

As someone from the industry I know all the failures… honestly this was one of my disappointment of my trip…

Hopefully management will change again and this time...
