Ocean Basket located in the Liberty Midlands Mall is just one of the options you have. It appears loved and chosen by a very many people. In the Ocean Basket you will find a very wide variety of sea food e.g. prawns, calamari, oysters, fried rice, chips, veggies, wines, teas and coffees and the list goes on and on.

Ocean Basket has several features, takeaways, good for family, good for children, good for groups, good for casual gatherings, good for dinning, wheelchair accessible entrance and exits, staff wear masks, temperature checks done, it's very cozy, different platters, shushis and it blends in with the environment as the staff are friendly.

The Liberty Midlands Mall has got paid boom gates, it's a fenced shopping mall, open parking and covered parking, it's a grand shopping mall located in an area that's surrounded by big names hotels, upmarket residential areas, beautiful aesthetics and it's all so well setup. The N3 highway is just outside the shopping mall. There's are several other amenities in the area and the area a generally a busy area and there are other car dealers around the area.

The road networking is good but can be easily traffic jammed as there are several traffic lights on those roads. In all this, it's always a busy place and popular which confirms that it's a place to be if you're in Pietermaritzburg City. Been to Ocean Basket Seafood restuarant after a very long time. Sadly quality is not what i knew it to be. Firstly the buns were very doughy yet it was freshly prepared it was as though the dough was not properly mixed and making the bun inconsistent inside. Also sizes were not consistent. Bottom line it was a poor effort and rushed. The starter being my first time trying it was grilled kingklip chillie bites. With mayo sauce. Sauce killed the flavour of the bites making it taste chemical. Upon quering with the waiter we were told it was some Japanese mayo. Really speaking NOLA CHILLIE MAYO WOULD HAVE BEEN A BLAST ON IT. The food which was grilled prawns and savoury rice and grilled fish with rice and chips. The prawns though well done lacked flavour only tasted of butter making the rice taste salty. The fish was ok. Chips was as usual well done. Asked the waiter for some peri peri sauce and took him 4ever to bring it. By the time i had to get another waiter to assist. There couldnt have been more than 10 people dining at that time which was not far from closing time. Overall...

Something changed for the worse at this restaurant, customer service seems to no longer be what it once was. Food arrived with some portions being lukewarm whilst other portions are fresh off the grill... The friendly and diligent service I received during the past few years is no longer present. As such, don't expect anything special beyond okay-ish servings.

Loved the Hake, Calamari and Chips. The hot bread is a bonus. The modern but tasteful atmosphere is great! The variety of sauces provided is very much appreciated. All in all, Ocean Basket is now a favourite.

The only criticism I have, is that it can take a good awhile before the food is prepared, even on less busy days, and the staff can be a bit absent, for lack of a better word, so there's no indication or update on when the meals will be ready, they are likely understaffed which...
