La Trattoria - Stanford — Restaurant in Overstrand Local Municipality

Terrible customer experience: when phoning to book for this restaurant in the afternoon, the owner confirmed that he had one last table available for two people and took my details and confirmed an 8:15pm booking. He made NO MENTION of a booking system and supposed required sms confirmation to ensure a table, and he made NO MENTION that the restaurant was in fact full and if we were to attend, we may need to wait. Regardless of this, when we arrived, we were refused entry and virtually kicked out as we did not have a booking. Even if there had been a confusion and no booking was made/available, professional owners could have done any of the following: Apologized for the confusion and explained the situation in a gentle kind way. Offered that we wait and have a drink at a table available outside and sit down when a table comes available. Politely suggest that we come back the next evening to ensure a booking.

All of the above could have been done in a friendly polite manner. Instead we were RUDELY AND ABRUPTLY told to leave as we had no table available. After driving 15km to get there (with no other restaurants to go to in the area as a back up plan), this was a REAL disappointment. When we phoned the restaurant later in the evening to express our disappointment- STILL no apology was made.

A Truly Exceptional Italian Dining Experience

From the moment we walked in, it was clear we were in for something special. This authentic Italian restaurant offers one of the best Italian food experiences I have ever had. The warm and welcoming ambiance immediately makes you feel at home, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening.

The owner is absolutely incredible. He is funny, polite, and genuinely passionate about ensuring every guest has a wonderful time. He went out of his way to accommodate us, making us feel like family rather than customers. His attention to detail and kindness truly elevated our entire experience.

The food was outstanding. It was incredibly fresh, bursting with authentic flavours, and clearly made with the highest quality ingredients. Every dish we tried was a testament to the love and tradition behind real Italian cooking. On top of that, the service was impressively fast without ever feeling rushed.

If you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant with exceptional food, a warm atmosphere, and outstanding hospitality, look no further. This place is an absolute gem, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I am already looking forward to my next...

A Restaurant with pizza on the menu telling us they are not a pizzeria but restuarante, so if our table of 8 pax order pizza it will take long to make as they have a small oven. We were not in a rush so we agreed that if we can be served 1 or 2 pizzas at a time as soon as they were baked we will be ok to share and enjoy the social. So it happened, but we also received a pizza we didn’t order and had to send it back. After eating the 5th pizza out if 8 ordered, and waiting a long time for the next we were told there is no more pizza basis.

So we all had to leave only half fed. If they knew there was not enough basis to make 8 pizzas why not tell us so from the start, or why continue to serve other guests pizza while we had to wait in between getting our pizzas and if there weren’t enough basis.

The waiters service was also very poor and rude!
