I have had to edit my review since I cannot reply to the owner’s response and her response is completely inaccurate.
We had a booking at this venue for 13:30 on woman’s day and we arrived at 13:22. Our waitress took about 15 min before she took our order and by that stage we submitted our food and drink order. At 14:10 I went to look for the owner to ask what’s going on as neither myself nor the table next to us had even received beverages. We received coffee shortly and at 14:30 I left as I realized the food was never coming. I dislike this place even more now that they reply with lies to discredit a genuine review which is one of many complaining about the same thing. And yes Mrs o Grady, I have been here before and I’m sorry I came back.
We came here and received the worst service I have ever seen in my life. After I spoke to the owner about having waited 40 min and still had received nothing to drink and that the table next to us also had been waiting longer she told me that they are just very busy. The restaurant was half full so I am afraid to think how it would operate at full capacity.
I left without eating as after an hour after ordering my meal I just could not anymore.
Sorry to say but the place is not what it once was.
I really looked forward to a pleasant afternoon but they don’t even care that people get...
Read moreHillcrest Berries, nestled on a hill just past Stellenbosch, offers an unforgettable dining experience with its breathtaking mountain views. During my visit, I had the seafood chowder, which was nothing short of fantastic. This creamy, heartwarming soup was generously filled with delightful chunks of seafood and was perfectly complemented by toasted bread. Each bite was a testament to the chef's skill, making it a truly satisfying dish.
The side of chips served alongside was equally impressive—crisp, fresh, and just the right accompaniment to the chowder. After the savory main course, I indulged in their scones and cream, which were simply superb. These scones are arguably the best in Cape Town, boasting a perfect balance of texture and flavor.
The service at Hillcrest Berries was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff enhancing the overall experience. Despite the high quality of food and service, the prices were surprisingly affordable, making it a great value for money meal. Overall, it was a wonderful Sunday experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a delightful meal in a...
Read moreThe view and the wait staff made up for the poor decision making skills of the breakfast shift manager.
After months of Covid effecting the hospitality industry, the buyer's money value of a family of 10 was turned down by a gentleman that should know that wearing a hat to hide behind and having an attitude, isn't good for international nor local business.
The serving staff made an effort to save the day, and I am grateful for it. Celebrating a 66th birthday was our only focus.
As for the breakfast menu: the coffee was probably one of the best I had in a while. The lemonade needs serious work, coming from the Caribbean, central America, citrus juice doesn't get better than what we have daily. The farmers breakfast included a patato-mushroom-chedder cheese side dish which was absolutely a winner with every person who had it. The wafel served with ago cream, bacon and cherry tomatoes are pretty good if you are looking for a breakfast adventure and the yogurt based berry smoothies are awesome of you're a...
