Our stay at Zorgvliet had mixed experiences. Didn’t feel like the room were properly cleaned, there were Dirty sheets and Towels. These may have been staining marks but it kicked things off on a slightly bitter note and just should’ve been taken out of circulation.
Found it odd there wasn’t refreshed soaps and room complimentary waters (it was up to 40 degrees when we stayed!)
Dinner was great and the servers were pleasant; however Breakfast didn’t line up with this level. Also odd that coffees other than filter were charged for at breakfast as well as waters
Disappointed about not being able to purchase a bottle opener - just seemed odd again, the only place we weren’t able to get a souvenirs from was where we were staying… I understand about popular stock levels but as will be mentioned it doesn’t leave a warm happy feel to accompany the stay.
Another odd thing was having to pay to play paddle as hotel guests, I’d understand a deposit but seemed weird to be charged to use the courts for 20-40 mins especially when we didn’t see anyone use them across our time there.
We had an incident with a spider in the room and the key snapped in the lock both of which were dealt with well. However the door was cumbersome and my girlfriend was never able to unlock it and it just felt as if a staff member should’ve picked up on this at some point prior to us staying.
Shame there weren’t sun lounges as we had a nice balcony area. The room itself whilst nice did also have a lot of lights which made for not the most well rested night’s sleep.
Felt on check-in to the property we weren’t too well informed (told where the pool was, breakfast served etc) and it was a little frosty towards us, I understand it was later than usual for check-in (7ish..) but was the start of feeling like inconveniences.
The wine tasting felt a but sparse (in comparison to others we did) considering we were staying on a vineyard. Glasses were reused for the tasting (mixing the white and red glasses), we weren’t offered food however we did order some and just generally lacked the attention. Though the gentlemen’s serving us was lovely.
Overarching was the feeling that we were an inconvenience staying there. Maybe because we weren’t a wedding party. The place is beautiful and a lovely property however it feels stuck at an awkward stage of not being big enough to offer the same as those of the likes of Babylonstoren/Boschendal but also slightly too big to be considered “quaint”. There were good things in practice however just lacked the execution and delivery. Staying here you’ll have a lovely time, the wines are beautiful and you are surrounded by some breathtaking scenery however the experience wasn’t everything we...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to hold our wedding at Zorgvliet this year (2020). We actually started planning our wedding in 2018, and this is when we first came across Zorgvliet in Stellenbosch. South African, but based in the UK, it was essential that we worked with a venue that was easy to deal with, and Zorgvliet didn’t let us down. From day 1 the staff were extremely accommodating and welcomed us with a real sense of warmth. This was in contrast to the other Vineyards that we had visited in Stellenbosch who came across a little snooty and didn’t seem that interested in making much effort. Other than this, the views at Zorgvliet are truly out of this world! We opted for the wedding coordination package and we were introduced to Christine. Let us tell you now, this woman is a god send. Absolutely amazing. Totally organised, 100% proactive and without her, our wedding would simply not have been the success it was. Definitely choose the coordination package, you won’t be sorry. Christine helped us out of a few holes when our original décor and flower provider screwed us around with 2 months to go. Christine came to the rescue, we managed to find a short notice supplier (of a higher calibre than the original) and the day was saved. The amount of effort Christine put into our wedding is truly phenomenal and we really can’t express our thanks enough to her for everything she did to make our wedding day perfect and special. We also booked all the accommodation at Zorgvliet – all the rooms are lovely, clean, extremely well decorated and good sizes. The restaurant and communal areas, such as the pool and the general grounds are also spectacular. When deciding on dining options for the wedding we chose Zorgvliet again, having visited and sampled the menu’s we were over the moon with the quality being offered. In the end we chose the harvest tables, which were perfect! And the Braai menu with Lamb spit, again, this was to die for! Not to mention how the mini desserts, which were totally divine. Everyone said this was the best wedding they had ever been to! Which is a real credit to Zorgvliet. Thanks Zorgvliet for making our Wedding day the most special day for us 😊

Read moreA big thank you to all the waiter's team including (probably some i forgot, just by advance sorry for that) Herschel, Langton, Freddy, Thando, aka Tcherry and the best Davidline, for there smiles everyday and way of service. A small up for the policies: it is compulsory to pay the entire journey at the beginning instead at the end. The welcome team is following policies without a bit of flexibility sometimes. To borrow a simple switch plug they take a deposit of 200 rand on your bank account as they got already your card print. What will I do to France with such plug. When you run a hotel it's a part of business and insurance if someone breaks glasses, steal towels of forgt to give you back a simple plug which costs few euros per unit on gross sale device websites. Now the funniest, I asked an iron to get my shirt ready for the wedding (why I was here for 2 days from reservation and that's why I woundnt have escape without and before paying) and I've been told by reception it is forbidden in the room as they are old built. Ok, then I asked them to show me where is the iron room I'll do it myself. No, it is compulsory to let them do it as it is paid. I'm not complaining for the service but commercially it is a very low attitude, not for the less than 1 euro it cost but just for the principle, come on, 15 rand per item. I heard one of our crew, in his room, a simple towel was missing, I, on my side, been told that one switch adaptor was missing, it 's just a loss of time and miscommunicaiton, wthout all these old time rules you avoid misunderstanding and big deceptive service impression. Last but not least, instead of all you plugs and counting towels or even bottles missing in every customer's room, you should better take care for instance of the flood that we create when we shower. Water goes behind till the toilet and outside on the floor. As well, improve your geiser thing problem: if I want to take a bath in the tub, just fill it up only to the half because otherwise there wont be no more hot water...my final review about this place is so so and it is a lil bit overpriced. Food is excellent and all wines besides that...
