The greediness of this wedding venue will astound you. Avoid as a wedding venue.

Sure, It is a beautiful venue, but would be better rather charge more for the venue than having sneaky costs, my husband is Swedish he said it. Nothing about this experience felt good.

Rehearsal dinner only venue hire( not chef or kitchen or waiters or clean up) 10k we only got a green light to allow us to have this two weeks before the wedding…. Unnecessary stress.where do they expect almost 70 people all staying there to eat?

To steam my moms pantsuit R1000 my dress another R1000, after some words a 1000 was deducted…. Why is it added to start with?

Starting prep on Saturday early extra cost, even tough it is just my people at ENTIRE VENUE!

Each supplier has to be approved( kick backs to molenvliet) supplier charges more to go to Molenvliet than another venues, we compared with a friend using same supplier.

We rented ALL accommodation as well as the hall for the weekend wedding you would think our bottle of bubbles was free, nope a quick count revealed it wasn’t.

Security wouldn’t let all the guests in. As Ashleen that was helping us didn’t put everyone’s names on the list, since rooms were shared they only had one persons name on the room not both at the gate. Chaos, people took hour and half to check in!!!!

Wrong rooms to guests, our best man got a tiny room and friend we are not that close with got a room with a private pool! Can’t kick them out! Massive mix up. The room plan sent doesn’t speak to the layout, the numbers doesn’t match. I painstakingly filled all the names and who is sharing. Twin beds optional rooms we not twin beds as well. Nothing I wanted to deal with since having done all the planning meticulously. NOT 5 star service!

Moms room in the Manor House cost 10k for the night. The linen smelled like mould. Honestly I was embarrassed.

While I was getting ready, a guy blowing leaves right outside the Manor House window won’t go away. He blew dust into the room continuously and the leave blower noise not what I had in mind for the morning. They had to redo my make up! We asked him to leave twice. He won’t. Reception took over an hour to ask him to go.

The 10k for rental of rehearsal ( Friday dinner ) hall since we had 5 guests attend that didn’t stay at the venue, only reason they didn’t stay at the venue it was full of our guests already! I had to put them next door at a guest house. R10k, if the 5 didn’t join, it would be free… seriously baffling. This cost really grinds my nerves.

How much can a gin and tonic be? You would be surprised. R350 a drink!!!!!! Brought gin from husbands home country, Sweden. Corkage on top of paying a massive mark up to be able to bring in fevertree tonic was almost 2k per bottle: crazy expensive. The bar man was terribly slow. They ran out of the premium brands of liquor….! Paying over a million for a wedding and people can’t order a proper drink…. No way!

The saddest thing about all this was that my father in law broke his wrist and hand before dinner and speeches. This was due to no safety tape or sign of the step in the main hall.

In dim lighting you can’t it is a step down. I also tripped there but luckily my gate was different. My father in law flew from Sweden for his sons wedding and wrote a beautiful speech. He had to go to ER and had emergency surgery so he missed the wedding because of a stupid not clearly marked step! We can never get that back! Never.

And no one bothered to contact us about this afterwards.

I have never been more disappointed in my life. The entire experience dealing with our coordinator, the hammering out of extra money for every single thing we wanted that is not standard. Exhausting and to be fair can be avoided by charging more initially.

A bitter taste, due to the time consuming and painstakingly slow process of the whole thing and the terrible execution of actual services didn’t make things better.

It took me some years to be able to write this.

Greediness and shocking service! Don’t go here. Married...

While the setting of MolenVliet is beautiful, our wedding experience in March was unfortunately marred by significant issues, particularly regarding management and their post-event conduct.||Upon arrival, we were rudely accosted by what we assume was a manager (lady with long blonde/grey hair) for accidentally parking on the lawn, despite there being no signage indicating this was forbidden. It's frustrating to be met with such hostility, especially for an occasion that should be joyous. Adding to this, the lawn itself was in poor condition, with a prominent muddy bare patch right in the centre of our ceremony area, forcing us to quickly (and at additional cost) arrange an aisle runner to cover it. For a venue of this supposed caliber, this is unacceptable.||Furthermore, our post-wedding experience has been incredibly frustrating. We diligently paid all our installments on time and with proof of payment. However, almost two months later, we are still awaiting the return of our deposit. Numerous emails to Micaela have gone unanswered, showing a complete lack of responsiveness and professionalism. It's clear that MolenVliet is quick to demand prompt payments and cooperation from clients, but fails to reciprocate with basic customer service once the event is over.||The only positive highlight was the truly fantastic service provided by the Manor House staff during our stay. Their attentiveness and professionalism were a stark contrast to the rest of our experience.|Overall, our wedding at MolenVliet was overshadowed by managerial rudeness, neglected grounds, and a blatant disregard for post-event client communication. Huge Disappointment! We booked the “Luxury Cottages” at MolenVliet and were massively disappointed for several reasons: 1. Our room was not ready when we checked in. The safe didn’t work due to low battery, and the room was very dirty—we even found a used tissue under the bed (see pictures). Additionally, debris kept falling from the ceiling onto the bed (see pictures). 2. We couldn’t sleep at all the first night due to loud noises from animals under the roof. The next day, we were told they were squirrels. 3. We tried to contact the staff, but after 7 PM, no one was on the property, and no one responded via the WhatsApp chat. 4. The pictures on Booking.com and other platforms are highly misleading! Be aware that all (!!) the pictures are from the Manor House, which you do not have access to if you book the “Luxury Cottages.” Even the pool shown in the first picture on Booking.com is exclusively (!!) for Manor House guests. A picture of the actual pool available for “Luxury Cottages” guests is included below. 5. At breakfast, we found a hair in our food (see picture). The next day, we confronted the manager with our concerns. Our room was cleaned again, and we received a bottle of wine as compensation. However, this did not change our feeling of great disappointment.

The most overrated wedding venue in Stellenbosch? Alright, hear me out. Molenvliet is gorgeous, no doubt about it, but is it really worth all the hype? Sure, the views are breathtaking, but what really makes this venue stand out is how it’s upkept and how they only host one wedding at a time. That means complete privacy and an intimate experience for couples and their guests. The venue is always in perfect condition like the gardens and settings are designed to fit any wedding while still feeling unique every time. We recently set up our studio PHOTO BOOTH at a wedding there, and it wasn’t just an addition - it became the star of the night. Creating many cherished memories for the couple and guests. So, is it overrated? Maybe. But with that level of exclusivity and care, it’s an experience that’s hard to beat.

Stayed here for a close friend's wedding which was at the venue. Libby at the front destination was a star! Rooms are pricey but the setting is absolutely stunning, open your curtains in the morning to a perfect scene of pristine picturesque mountain ranges dwarfing everything else in view. Look down in front of you and gaze over the lush green Shiraz vineyards. They are close to a Berry farm (other side of the valley) close to Stellenbosch (if you'd like to visit) else you have an array of vineyards in the vicinity. NOTE: there are horse fields next door so there are lots of flies, but they do spray the building etc to control the situation.
