The greediness of this wedding venue will astound you. Avoid as a wedding venue.
Sure, It is a beautiful venue, but would be better rather charge more for the venue than having sneaky costs, my husband is Swedish he said it. Nothing about this experience felt good.
Rehearsal dinner only venue hire( not chef or kitchen or waiters or clean up) 10k we only got a green light to allow us to have this two weeks before the wedding…. Unnecessary stress.where do they expect almost 70 people all staying there to eat?
To steam my moms pantsuit R1000 my dress another R1000, after some words a 1000 was deducted…. Why is it added to start with?
Starting prep on Saturday early extra cost, even tough it is just my people at ENTIRE VENUE!
Each supplier has to be approved( kick backs to molenvliet) supplier charges more to go to Molenvliet than another venues, we compared with a friend using same supplier.
We rented ALL accommodation as well as the hall for the weekend wedding you would think our bottle of bubbles was free, nope a quick count revealed it wasn’t.
Security wouldn’t let all the guests in. As Ashleen that was helping us didn’t put everyone’s names on the list, since rooms were shared they only had one persons name on the room not both at the gate. Chaos, people took hour and half to check in!!!!
Wrong rooms to guests, our best man got a tiny room and friend we are not that close with got a room with a private pool! Can’t kick them out! Massive mix up. The room plan sent doesn’t speak to the layout, the numbers doesn’t match. I painstakingly filled all the names and who is sharing. Twin beds optional rooms we not twin beds as well. Nothing I wanted to deal with since having done all the planning meticulously. NOT 5 star service!
Moms room in the Manor House cost 10k for the night. The linen smelled like mould. Honestly I was embarrassed.
While I was getting ready, a guy blowing leaves right outside the Manor House window won’t go away. He blew dust into the room continuously and the leave blower noise not what I had in mind for the morning. They had to redo my make up! We asked him to leave twice. He won’t. Reception took over an hour to ask him to go.
The 10k for rental of rehearsal ( Friday dinner ) hall since we had 5 guests attend that didn’t stay at the venue, only reason they didn’t stay at the venue it was full of our guests already! I had to put them next door at a guest house. R10k, if the 5 didn’t join, it would be free… seriously baffling. This cost really grinds my nerves.
How much can a gin and tonic be? You would be surprised. R350 a drink!!!!!! Brought gin from husbands home country, Sweden. Corkage on top of paying a massive mark up to be able to bring in fevertree tonic was almost 2k per bottle: crazy expensive. The bar man was terribly slow. They ran out of the premium brands of liquor….! Paying over a million for a wedding and people can’t order a proper drink…. No way!
The saddest thing about all this was that my father in law broke his wrist and hand before dinner and speeches. This was due to no safety tape or sign of the step in the main hall.
In dim lighting you can’t it is a step down. I also tripped there but luckily my gate was different. My father in law flew from Sweden for his sons wedding and wrote a beautiful speech. He had to go to ER and had emergency surgery so he missed the wedding because of a stupid not clearly marked step! We can never get that back! Never.
And no one bothered to contact us about this afterwards.
I have never been more disappointed in my life. The entire experience dealing with our coordinator, the hammering out of extra money for every single thing we wanted that is not standard. Exhausting and to be fair can be avoided by charging more initially.
A bitter taste, due to the time consuming and painstakingly slow process of the whole thing and the terrible execution of actual services didn’t make things better.
It took me some years to be able to write this.
Greediness and shocking service! Don’t go here. Married...

It's frustrating to be met with such hostility, especially for an occasion that should be joyous. Adding to this, the lawn itself was in poor condition, with a prominent muddy bare patch right in the centre of our ceremony area, forcing us to quickly (and at additional cost) arrange an aisle runner to cover it. For a venue of this supposed caliber, this is unacceptable.||Furthermore, our post-wedding experience has been incredibly frustrating. We diligently paid all our installments on time and with proof of payment. However, almost two months later, we are still awaiting the return of our deposit.
