After several days of heavy meals, I was craving something lighter and searched for abalone porridge. Since we did not visit Jeju this time, I thought it would be nice to try some Jeju-style dishes instead. We found this restaurant on Google Maps and decided to give it a try.
We ordered the abalone porridge with three abalone, a fried fish meal (which came with sea urchin seaweed soup), and a seafood hotpot. Everything was delicious and felt like a hearty home-cooked meal.
The abalone porridge was rich, full of umami, and completely changed our impression of the dish, unlike the one we had in Jeju years ago, which was much lighter in flavour.
The fried fish (we got the large one) was tasty and filling.
The seafood hotpot was okay, it came with a whole large abalone and other seafood.
One of the side dishes, possibly marinated sea squirt, was especially good and paired so well with white rice.
The waitress was very patient and kindly pointed out that the fried fish set already included sea urchin soup when we tried to order another one.
Prices were reasonable too. The restaurant is also very close to...
Read moreAbalone Porridge: yummy & creamy with slices of abalone in it! quite similar to how the Cantonese does their congee! Do not be afraid of it’s slight green color (might be the seaweed(?))
Fried Seabream: Very crunchy and well-seasoned! Meat is super fresh too, can almost taste the sea in it
Urchin soup: Flavourful & interesting way of having cooked urchin (have always only had fresh / sashimi urchins) taste a little bit like cooked crab roe! (Almost). Super generous with the seaweed; we couldn’t finish it all
Sea squirt bimbimbap: Quite tasty and yummy for the first few bites! However to finish it all alone it could be too overwhelming. Best as sharing portion! FYI: First time having sea squirt and felt that for its deeply intense umami taste, it might not be for everyone! (Has that briny/iodine aftertaste)
Banchan: All was amazing! Generous & varied.

Read moreMust say the seafood here is very fresh and delicious. The fried styled sea bream fish was absolutely tasty and fresh, crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The abalone porridge which is in a greenish coloured (it could be the seaweed seasoning) was good too, not overpowering taste. The number of abalone in the porridge is varied, you can choose from the menu. As most restaurants in Busan, drinking water is provided for and it is refillable, this place provides you with Korean roasted rice tea instead, which is also good. The menu is tourist friendly, with English language. If you’re a seafood lover, this can be a good place for a meal near the Busan station. It’s about 5 mins walk from...
