Richard 1010 — Restaurant in Daegu

If you don’t just want Mexican food but actually need it to taste like home, Richard 1010 is the place to go in Daegu.

It’s rare to find truly authentic Mexican cuisine outside of Mexico or California—but this spot nails it. No surprise, since the owner and chef hails from Puebla, Mexico, one of the country’s most celebrated culinary regions.

We loved it so much that we ended up eating here three times in ten days, sampling nearly the entire menu. Everything was delicious, but a few standouts deserve special mention:

Enchiladas Verdes – perfectly smothered in a bright, flavorful salsa verde that tastes just like it should. Gambas al Ajillo – yes, a Spanish tapas favorite on a Mexican menu, but trust me, you won’t question it after the first bite. The garlicky sauce is pure magic—use the baguette slices (or even pizza crust) to soak up every drop. Beef Taco Pizza – sounds quirky, but it somehow works perfectly. It tastes exactly like a beef taco. Carne Asada Tacos – two generously filled tacos with perfectly seasoned steak. We liked them so much, we ordered them on two separate visits.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I’d even go so far as to say this is the best authentic Mexican food we’ve found anywhere in Southeast Asia, Japan, or Korea.
