I don't want to go overboard. But when I arrive in a connection city after a 14 hour flight, I am usually famished. The miniscule in flight meal was a couple hours earlier and-- not being blessed with business class-- my body wants something to fuel me for the next flight. This food court was a great surprise to this lover of Asian cuisines. The place was mobbed but somehow managed to take orders (human cashiers and video kiosks) quickly. You're given a beeper that directs you to the correct pickup point when ready. And somehow they routinely deliver within 10 minutes. I had a deluxe Japanese-style combo of pork, shrimp and fish katsu accompanied by udon soup. I can't say they were on par with places I've been in Tokyo or elsewhere. But I have to say that I had to keep reminding myself that I was at an airport. It was tasty, almost homey and filling. And maybe a strong dollar had something to do with the modest pricing. It not only didn't feel like airport food-- it also didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of. (As at almost every airport experience.) Although I have typically entered Bangkok via Hong Kong, Tokyo or Taipei, this food court is a strong reason for me to choose Seoul in the future.
