이자카야 도(Do) — Restaurant in Jeju

Not sure what happened today..

Owner was an incredibly nice guy, he was super pleasant and I was certain it would be a fantastic meal. Would absolutely get a beer with this guy, had some good stories and was really inviting. He was by far the best part of the meal. Was looking forward to it all day because the reviews and pictures looked amazing.

Owner gets a 5/5 if not 6/5, he is a great guy.

Although- Food was completely different than the pictures seen here and was pretty disappointing. We ordered the big combination of sashimi for 2-3 people and it came with the same white fish cut in different orientations, and looked very unprofessionally cut.. many of the big pieces of sashimi had enough bones left in them that we were pulling it back out of our mouth at the table… Fish felt somewhat fresh, but looked completely different than what was pictured here & was mostly the tough cuts of the same fish that were chewy and clearly not the main cuts of the fish.

Normally never leave reviews but felt a bit cheated here to the point that the group left a bit upset.

If it wasn’t for the very special and friendly owner, I would be leaving a lower review…

Expensive and extremely over-priced. Soba was 35,000 won and tasteless. Tonkatsu 40,000 won (???!!!) Sashimi 4 types, 3 pieces each 39,000 won (and comes frozen. Can feel the ice🥹) Just look at the portion in my photos.

Crazy and ridiculous prices! No wonder restaurant is empty from the time we went in till we left at 8pm.

Mosquito in the restaurant (killed 1). Had to spray repellent on my 2 kids. 🤣 hence the 1 star review for atmosphere.

Totally different experience from other reviews. Visit at your own risk.

Just want to share my experience and it’s up to others to decide if they agree after...

The photo shows the small 모리아와세 (sashimi of the day) costing ₩79,000 that the owner recommended for two of us. That's it. Nothing else. The small lettuce salad, pickles and such shown on the photo were provided prior to us ordering, trying to decide whether to leave or not. We had to have instant ramens back at our accommodation after the meal so we can get to sleep.
