Haejeo — Restaurant in Jeju

I’m shocked.

It was expensive, but that wasn’t the worst part — the worst part is this was the absolute WORST service I have ever experienced in Korea, or anywhere.

Staff cooking meat for you is pretty normal, but the first red flag of our meal is when I turned a piece of meat myself to see the stamp on the black pork skin and the staff came out and completely seriously said to us in Korean “oh what, so you want to cook it all now?” It was said with such disdain that my entire group was shocked (all local Koreans except me).

When we ordered the meats, we also wanted to order soups. Instead we were told “no you can’t order soups right now — after we cook your meat you can order the soup”. Again said in such a rude way.

When we were out of lettuce and other 반찬, we asked the staff nicely for some more, and we were spoken to like children “you better not leave any left over if you’re asking for more”.

All in all, the food was fine, but we were treated SO poorly that there was not even an opportunity to enjoy our time. My group was so traumatized by this experience, that we were uncomfortable asking for help at any other restaurant in Jeju.
