Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Jeju

Meals are served Korean family style, that is there is one selection of entree for all seated guests, vs American style where each guest orders what they want individually.

Our family of 4 ordered a steak (900+ grams) Caesar salad, side of fries, 3 bowls of soup, 3 sweet drinks, veggies and bread for 177,000 won

We had enough to eat. The server worked hard to explain the menu (he spoke little English). We did tip him for his extra service and we felt tipping was ok in Western style restaurants. We asked for medium well steak but I think we got slightly less than medium cooking. Steak was 1 inch think, somewhat fatty but very juicy.

Wait staff cut the steak at the table, removed the bone, then later brought back the meat they had removed from the bone (which they did in the kitchen.)

A rare and pricy...

When visiting Jeju Island, and want some American flavors, stop by the Outback Steak House. Food was delicious, great customer service and friendly staff. It is conveniently located by bus stops, and in a shopping tower. There is a movie theater in the in the 6th floor for a dinner and a movie. Very much kid friendly, food tested like back home. We loved it, and highly recommend it to everyone visiting Jeju. Located in the second floor to the right. It is walking distance from some hotels near by. There is also ground parking costs...

일년에 두세번은 꼭 이 지점을 방문하던 사람입니다. BHC 인수후에 논란이 있어서 방문을 피하다가 기프티콘을 선물받아 방문했습니다.

우선 레시피나 재료의 변화가 없다는건 확실히 거짓입니다. 부시맨빵부터 사이즈가 작아졌고, 스프도 예전과 같이 맛있진 않았습니다.

기브미파이브, 투움바파스타, 갈릭립아이 총 12만원이 넘더군요. 기브미파이브를 먹었을땐 뭐 달라진거 없네 괜찮네 했습니다.

그다음 투움바파스타부터가 문제였네요. 소스는 추가해도 밍밍했고, 새우는 정말 너무 작은 사이즈입니다. 이게 뭔가… 이러고도 바뀐게 없다고 뻔뻔히 얘기할 수 있나 싶더군요. 농도나 재료는 일부 달라졌어도 맛은 비슷하니까 우선 먹었습니다. 아웃백은 다른건 몰라도 투움바를 건드린건 큰 실책입니다.

거의 5만원하는 갈릭립아이. 미디엄으로 주문했으나 칼질이 잘 안되고 핏기 가득 머금은 레어로 나왔습니다. 질겅질겅 개인적으론 선호하지 않는 식감이라 다시 요청했더니 더 익혀왔지만 이번엔 푸석푸석 정말 맛때가리 하나 없는 고깃덩어리로 왔어요. 스테이크 사이드 볶음밥은 누가봐도 냉동을 전자렌지 돌린 상태와 맛이었습니다. 진짜 최악. 그리고 바깥쪽 힘줄 좀 제거하세요. 질겨서 더더욱 별로였어요.

아웃백만의 맛을 좋아해서 매년 방문해도 그동안은 전혀 부족함을 느끼지 못했어요. 그런데 오늘은 같이간 세명모두 정말 기분을 망쳤습니다. 이 가격 주고 아웃백을 올거면 조금도 보태서 호텔 런치를 가거나 더 잘하는 개인 레스토랑을 가는게 낫겠어요. 스테이크 5만원, 파스타 2만원후반대면 가격이 있는편이고 이 가격이면 요즘 맛있는데 너무 많죠.

가격적으로나 맛으로도 더이상 재방문의사 1도 없는 아웃백이 되었네요. BHC는 이럴려면 왜 인수했을까요? 이해불가.

직원들은 오는 사람마다 더 비산 블랙라벨 주문을 몇번이고 물어보는데 그것도 별로였습니다. 고기의 등급이 다르다고요? 그래서 5만원짜리 스테이크...
