Husband and I stopped in for dinner and ordered the sea urchin/seaweed soup and grilled mackerel for dinner after visiting Seopjikoji. Wow, we were so blown away by what we thought was going to be a simple dinner. The grilled mackerel was super fresh and had a very nice smoky char from the grill. This tasted different, much less fishy and oily than other mackerel I’ve tried and the owner told me their mackerel is from local waters and the fish is different from imported fish in that it is more dense and very fresh smelling, which is a very nice change from the usual we have eaten in Korea. Then we also had the sublime sea urchin miyeok guk, very subtle soup broth which allowed the very generous portion of the rich urchin roe to shine. So delicious we finished every drop.
