금돈옥 행담점 — Restaurant in Seoul

A nice KBBQ restaurant in Seoul, South Korea that serves great marinated galbi in the Haengdang-dong area. We ordered three servings of 금돈 양념갈비 and one 비빔냉면 naengmyeon after waiting in line for close to one hour, plus 양념꽃게무침 추가 to go. The waiting area lobby is a bit small and during the winter time, it can be quite cold with three entrance/exit doors, but it was worth the wait. They grill the meat for you and our server did a great job grilling the galbi, very tender meat and taste. Lots of tasty side dishes and my favorite was the water kimchi. 전에있던 고래식당 자리에 새로 오픈한지 2개월 정도 되서 늘 궁금하던차에 방문해 보았습니다. 새로 오픈한 가게답게 깨끗하고, 깔끔하고 밝은 분위기가 좋습니다. 건물 밖 상호에도 강조하며 써 놓은 가격처럼 이곳은 아구찜 중짜를 19,800원이라는 믿기 어려운 가격에 판매합니다. 우선 첫 방문이니 기본인 아구찜 중짜 약간맵게 + 날치알볶음밥에 치즈 추가로 시도해 보았습니다. 우선, 중자가 거의 4인분은 될 정도로 푸짐하고, 양념은 적절한 MSG+설탕 비율을 사용하여 첫 맛에 '어우양념 잘 하시네..' 란 생각이 듭니다. 하지만 역시나 가격 때문인지 콩나물이 메인으로 넉넉히 들어가 있고 아귀는 적당히(?) 들어가 있습니다. 못 먹을 정도는 아니지만 아쉽게 느껴진건, 아마도 아귀를 초벌처럼 먼저 삶아 준비해 놓은 상태에서 주문이 들어오면 그 때 콩나물+양념과 함께 다시 볶아서 서빙되는 것 같은데... 그렇다 보니 아구찜이라기보단 볶음에 가깝고 아귀 속까지 양념이 베지 못하고, 약간 덜 삶아진 상태 였습니다(탱글함을 넘어 가위 없이는 끊어서 먹기 힘들 정도). 볶음밥 역시, 치즈 빼고 드시는 걸 추천 드립니다. (날치알과 치즈의 존재감은 어디에...?)

결론적으로, 먹고나서 배는 부르나 맛으로는 아쉽고 그러나 가격이 워낙 착해서 딱히 바라는 것도 없는(?) 그런 곳이였습니다. 단체 회식 또는 주머니 가볍게 배불리 먹을만한 곳을 찾으시는...
