Everything about this place was just mediocre. Starting with their cheesy decor--I understand what they're trying to do, but they don't pull off the grandeur of a traditional steakhouse. All the food was pretty salty in general without robust flavors. Prime rib was nothing to take note of. Definitely not worth what they charge, but it's still a pleasant enough experience with fun food presentations, attentive waitstaff and roomy dining area.
But that changes (for worse) during Hyundai Card Gourmet Week. I went without knowing and was bombarded with touristy crowds, lackluster service, and even worse food. Steak is okay enough, though fattier than usual, so I had to cut away a lot of it. But the lunch buffet was absolutely sub-par. It makes me wonder why they even have a buffet if it’s going to be fast-food quality. It was obvious they haven’t trained the waitstaff properly, probably just hired to accommodate the gourmet week crowd—they stood like deer in headlights. Please, don’t participate in gourmet week if you...

I was invited by a friend to Lawry’s, a place we visit almost every summer in Korea. Unfortunately this time was disappointing. It used to feel like a proper American restaurant but now it’s more like a Korean suljib.
In the past, there were international staff who were attentive, friendly and could communicate in English without any problems. But now most of the Korean staff seemed to be high school or college students. Nothing wrong with that but at a place like Lawry’s you expect professional service and at least basic English communication.
Our steak was tempered wrong, nobody explained the horseradish, and the staff seemed like they just wanted to finish the shift. Even the buffet we had to discover it ourselves because nobody mentioned it.
The steak is still good but everything else feels downgraded. For the price you pay you expect better service and more attention to detail. Hopefully, next time Lawry’s will match its name and...
Read moreVery disappointing lunch. We do Christmas at Lawry’s every year, so we booked a table. Only lunch time reservation was available so we said ok. We sat down, there’s no napkins, tables kind of a mess. We ordered our drinks and they came. Ok. It took over 30 minutes for our lunch to be served. Then one of us got a wrong order, so I had to send it back. Another 30 minutes go by. No food. I ask one of the wait staff and she brings me a plate 10 minutes after. And it looks rushed and messy. Bathroom was awful. 2 of the women’s toilets were overflowed and there was a long line after lunch. It felt like I was at a subway restroom… Not a...
