Vegan food options galore, this hidden vegan bakery, tucked nearly into the university district, a grueling uphill incline, makes the meticulous arrangement of vegan baked goods well worth the sweat. You'll have to really look to find this , or else aid yourself with google maps.
Inside the air-conditioned storefront, you'll find a plethora of vegan baked goods, including croissants, Korean rice bread, wholegrain bread, muffins, and vegan custard-filled pastries. Of course, as per the delicacy of a vegan diet in Korea, you pay the price: items start at 4000 and range up to an aggregious 19000 for the vegan "steak" dishes. Expect to pay double or triple what you might pay for Korean desserts in major chains, and feel somewhat useful in that you may have reduced carbon emissions just a little and supported locally. Strangely, I asked patrons there if they were vegan, and all responded "no", indicating to me that people come here for the food first and foremost. I suppose if you're so audacious to eat a vegan diet in Seoul, you might live near a temple and cook for yourself, rather than eating artery-clogging vegan processed pastries.
Alas, I found the food sutantial and not too sweet, but I don't think the owners appreciated my English patronage and seemed offput by my questions. Regardless, with only 5-10 vegan places in Seoul, and most with intermittent hours of operation, Oh Breado is a must. Also, the sundae was...

Everything is labeled with specific keywords such as rice-based, organic, whole grain or no added sugar (at the moment only in Korean, though), so one should be able to find something that suits their palate and dietary preferences.
Personally, I am amazed by how good their vegan (and often rice-based) products look, smell and taste! I especially love exploring the "exotic" creations they come up with, e.g. mugwort bean-powder cream-filled bun (๊ณ ์๊ณ ์์ธ์ ๋ฏธํฌ๋ฆผ), mulberry leaf scone (๋ฝ์ค์ฝ) or sweet pumpkin cube (๋จํธ๋ฐํ๋ธ).
!!! If you are allergic to gluten, please make sure to tell staff about it! They should help you in finding something that is gluten-free. As far as I know, they use gluten in most of their products, so people who are highly sensitive...
ย ย ย Read moreMy favorite vegan bakery in Seoul! They have lots and lots of options (both sweet and savory) and donโt run out of bread too quickly, so even in the afternoon thereโs a plenty of things to choose from.
Also for cream lovers - this is a place to go! Many of their breads have different kinds of cream fillings (some are lighter (oat milk cream), some are a bit thicker and heavier, almost butter like).
My favorite breads so far are sesame cream bread and injeolmi cream bun (with cream and red beans inside),...
