I'm generally a big fan of Gamjatang as its my go-to Korean stew/soup. Having stayed in an hotel in the area, thought it was a sign given the extremely positive reviews on Google.
However, my experience differs quite a bit from the general consensus. Came here around 10:30 AM just to grab a quick breakfast/lunch and was met with a mostly empty restaurant with maybe two other parties.
First thing that was readily apparent was the service, or the lack thereof. Unsure whether this is because they were just opening but there wasn't really any staff to help us. Eventually after we managed to get the staffs attention, they motioned for us to sit at any empty table.
The next thing that was readily apparent was how un-foreigner friendly this restaurant was. Although I understand that we're in a foreign country, there weren't menus available at all(neither in Korean nor English). When we asked the staff for a menu, they motion to a wall where multiple options were written. We had tried to communicate through Google Translate and order one of the Gamjatang with noodles, but this proved to be extremely difficult due to the language gap.
Although I wanted to end the meal with a fried rice, I ultimately chose not to just due to the difficulty in ordering.
Food itself was honestly fine, nothing particularly special. Soup was flavorful, but maybe a bit on the salty side. Pork bone wasn't great as most of the meat was much less tender than I would have liked. Best part of the meal was probably the cucumber kimchi.
We might have just come at a bad time and there weren't any staff members that spoke English, but definitely would not recommend, as the food was not remotely good enough to compensate for the extremely difficult...

The current owner that runs the restaurant is 3rd generation and is offering some of the best service I have ever experienced. If you are expecting anything else but a classic gamjatang experience, I would tell you to go elsewhere. This restaurant offers nothing else but an authentic presentation of the classic Korean dish.
Also remember to do with a fried rice at the end because it is...
