The One — Restaurant in Seoul

Summary: Pretty good authentic/fusion Chinese restaurant in Gangnam with Manhattan’s Michelin-star high-dinning price.

Pros: some dishes are very good (almost taste like Beijing premium restaurant but not as good as Beijing’s top restaurant which you can go with similar price if you go to China) Waiters and waitresses are pretty attentive. Private room can be reserved.

Cons: Price: I personally think the most expensive course meal should cost that much. It has Manhattan’s Michelin star high-dining price. ($416 per person for the most expansive course) Pretentiousness: If you are living in fancy life with supercars, this might be the place for you to bring your date to impress how much money you can spend on him/her. From all the employees(including the manager) to the decoration of the restaurant, it is quiet Korean style-gossip-girl-like pretentious. It’s quiet hard to explain but you will know when you get there.

Recommend only if you want to impress someone who likes fancy life/wants to be fancy with you. (Or you can consider booking a flight to China with the money you can...

Our fate made us spend our new year’s eve in Seoul, so we wanted to have nice dinner. We wanted to have some peking duck, so google brought us to The One restaurant.

We had an amazing experience, the food was good, the atmosphere was uplifting, and service was amazing.

Jason, the person who took care of us, was so pleasant and considerate. He made our evening by a small talk and stories about the Korean culture. Jason, if you are reading this, you are the best 😁

일단 동파육을 가장한 얇은 삼겹살찜 두장을 밥에 올린 것에서 식재료 코스트를 엄청 관리하는 느낌을 받았고, 셋이 갔는데 북경오리도 껍데기 몇 점 안 썰어주고 사라졌음.

샥스핀 스프만 괜찮았고, 딤섬은 코스트코 고향만두 느낌임. 하나 먹어보고 나머지는 포기함.

방은 분위기 좋았으나 여기서 일하는 사람들은 솔직히 프렌차이즈 패스트푸드 레스토랑 만큼의 서비스 마인드가 전혀 없는, 그러니까 격조와는 거리가 매우 먼 곳임.

청바지와 티셔츠 입고 서빙하는 아가씨를 보니 내가 인당 22만원짜리를 코스요리를 먹고 있는 게 아니라 8위안짜리 냉면을 파는 어디 연변 중식당에 온 느낌이고,

여기는 지배인과 사장이 슈퍼갑인지 우리 대화 중에 노크도 없이 불쑥불쑥 들어와서 "불편한 것은 없는지?" 질문을 가장한 거드름을 피우고 가는 듯한 곳임.

팁 받으러 온 것도 아닐 텐데 노크없이 방에 세 번이나 들어와서 대화를 끊기게 만듬. 불편하면 우리가 알아서 벨을 누를 텐데 그렇게 불쑥 들어올 거면 홀 장사를 하지, 방은 왜 만들어 놨는지 모르겠음.
