Hitting Myeongdong area again when we were supposed to spend some time in Gyeongbokgung Palace for hanbok photography - but then one was still down so had to cancel. Might as well spent some time shopping in Myeongdong since I haven't really explored this area when we came on our first day in Seoul.
While on our way through a rather narrow alley, I spotted the 粥 sign and the name Myeongdong Porridge - took a peek at the banner and the abalone porridge was the determining factor, as I missed the an abalone porridge restaurant on our last in Jeju (snowing).
Simple banchans started the brunch, and 1) the abalone porridge was thick and delicious with the seaweed giving it umami taste, texture kinda like HK style porridge; 2) seafood & green onion pancake and 3) dumpling soup managed to fill the constantly hungry tummy - as the weather was cold and we had to walk a lot.

Read moreThis is one of our favorite places to eat in Seoul. They are so welcoming no matter what the time of day, and are open 24/7 so you're not stuck being hungry even if it's 8am (most local places don't open till 11am/12pm). We visited a total of 4 times and loved every meal. Highly recommend the bone broth and the bibimbap. Personally really enjoyed the fresh kimchi taste (though some people may prefer it "riper") and am a big fan of the anchovy banchan. A few of the ladies serving us spoke fluent mandarin and we noticed that they were always friendly and accommodating to the Chinese tourists. The variety of food is really good and you can just order off a screen... Plus the service is super fast. Usually after we put our order in, the banchan is on the table in less than 2 mins. We're sad that we couldn't try the bigger meals, they looked popular with the locals. Highly...
Read moreVery delicious Chinese food with excellent service, but taste lacks a tiny bit due to the weather. The staff were helpful and friendly, and being a Chinese restaurant with some Korean food, they could speak both Chinese and Korean, but their English is poor though. The atmosphere is kinda average as they don’t really have much decorations and background music. Recommended for Chinese travellers and if you see too much grilled meat restaurants and can’t find anything else to eat. A great...
