I went here during lunchtime, and since itโ€™s known as a popular spot, there were a lot of people. You either make a reservation or choose your menu on arrival, leave your phone number on the waiting list, and they call you back. (They call from a personal number, so donโ€™t ignore it thinking itโ€™s unknown.) For us, the estimated wait time was about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

I wanted to try different kinds of fish, so we ordered the assorted steamed fish. What came out was skate, sandfish, pollock, and codโ€”Iโ€™m not even sure exactly what kinds. The meat quality and taste were fine, but the portions felt small with not much to actually eat, especially for the price.

Also, for a โ€œsteamed dish,โ€ the sauce wasnโ€™t good. It felt separate from the fish, not absorbed at all. And it was just spicyโ€” not the kind of tasty spiciness that makes you want to eat more with rice.

Now that Iโ€™ve tried it once, I wonโ€™t be coming back. My mother felt the same way. And since the business seems to be doing well, I didnโ€™t feel the staff were particularly friendly...

This is a very popular restaurant in Sokcho. In fact, people wait over an hour to get a seat during heavy hours. They have a sign in the front saying that they will close early if they get a lot of orders. I found out that they catch the fish in the morning and if they run out, they close the shop - so yes, if they run out of the fish while you're waiting, they will close their doors on you. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area - its famous among the locals and...

Although itโ€™s red, it wasnโ€™t spicy and the meat falls off the bone so well. Weโ€™ve been here before and Iโ€™m sure weโ€™ll come again.

Must try the so called seafood platter. Various types of fish on the plate! For lunch, they normally close at 2.30pm and always full. The restaurant has no dining chair and only floor seating with table which not comfortable for long hours seating. But definitely worth the hype of trying.

If you are a fish lover, try steamed ray with spicy red sauce. It doesnโ€™t have many fish bones. Actually you can eat these bones. When you eat this try to put some sauce and potato slices on a rice and mix them together. It may give different flavor. Side dishes are very delicious too.
