TL:DR restaurant is outstanding, try to attend with at least a party of 2.

Bonsuwon Galbi is one of those restaurants that you won't really just stumble upon. It's in a sleepy little neighborhood and somewhat out of the way. The only reason I happened upon it, is because of a vlog that I read about famous food in Suwon.

It packed my curiosity, and I'm very glad that it did. After hiking the majority of the famous Hwaseong Fortress and the wall, I ended my journey at the Northern Gate waterfall section. Quickly looking up the bus route to this restaurant, I found it to be about 20 minutes away.

A bus ride later, I was walking up a hill in what started as a shopping street, and turned into a residential area. The multistory restaurant pops up in the corner of the street, and you can see that they are busy. Cars line the entire parking lot, and a fairly spry older gentleman is waving his lit baton to direct new cars coming in and finished patrons exiting like an experienced conductor at his podium.

Walking into the restaurant, I'm immediately greeted and asked to a phone call a COVID-19 tracking number and to check my temperature at the door. While dialing, I was lead to my table and given a menu.

Now, please note the menu was only in Korean. The caveat being there are plenty of photos. I didn't really have to look too hard though, as the reason I was there was for the Galbi.

As I stated before, one of the items that Suwon is famous for is Galbi. Therefore, I went to get some Korean BBQ. I read that it's a general rule that the BBQ restaurants in this area only sell a minimum of 2 servings per table, and thus the steep cost. At the time of this review, the 450 grams of meat and all the sides were 55,000KRW, the rice was 2,000KRW and the Makoli was 5,000KRW.

The pricing wouldn't have been so bad if it was for 2-3 folks, but being that I was solo... It hurt a little, but man the food was mind blowingly good. This isn't a place that is hard to recommend. I would go out of my way again to come back. Just hopefully, I'll have some friends that will join me.
