Give this place a wide berth if you ever need a restaurant in A Guarda. They don’t deserve even the one star, but that is the minimum I can award them on Google. They completely ignored me and took the orders from guests who arrived well after me.
I ordered steamed mussels as a starter with a beer and octopus with wine for a main course. The mussels were not fresh and tasted awful. When the waiter removed my starter plate, he took my used cutlery and put them without a napkin back on the table for my main course. I thought this was the worst treatment I ever received in any restaurant anywhere in the world. The octopus was served but I never received the wine I ordered. When I asked for the bill, I was charged for the wine that was never served and the waitress amended the bill. They also charged me for a basket of bone dry white bread that I didn’t touch and didn’t order but when that was not removed from the bill I didn’t even mention it as I just wanted to get out of the place. This was a shocking experience as a visitor and I would strongly recommend that...
Read moreDear Pilgrims- Absolutely avoid this largely forgettable little place! (Agree wholeheartedly with Marthin and Janice Fung - previous reviews below). We dined here this evening as a group of 7 weary pilgrims having crossed from Portugal into Spain at A Guardi earlier in the day! We unfortunately stumbled across this rather opaque local restaurant perched on the sea front - its central location luring in unsuspecting pilgrims like some local Galician siren (or octopus) BUT be warned - step inside at your own peril - for a very ill mannered and misguided individual (quite possibly the manager/ proprietor) - think it’s acceptable to treat guests with borderline contempt, arrogance and dismissive intolerance for their inability to speak Spanish! Such rude unwelcoming behaviour is wholly unnecessary and unacceptable anywhere! Steer well clear of this little place & chap! Food is ok but his attitude sucks! Life is too short to pander to such blatant bad behaviour in 2025! Take your custom elsewhere! You...
Read moreTerrible service!! Don’t go here if you are a tourist or pilgrim - they don’t welcome you!! The waiters deliberately ignored me and even avoided having eye contact with me. I had to ask very loud so that they can hear. When there was finally a waiter come and took the order, he was very impatient and left before I even finished.
They just keep pushing me to each other and none of them seems willing to serve. I felt so embarrassed being ignored like that in a full house. No one deserves this kind of treatment in a restaurant!
There were also local people who came after got in before me. Extremely disappointed despite the recommendation from my albergue host.
The food was overrated too. It’s just normal tapas that you can get from any other restaurants. Nothing impressive nor worth the wait.
DON’T GO IF YOU ARE...
