I like surprises! And this restaurant delivered. We walked from the tired end of the beach, and having never been to Arinaga before, our hopes weren't high for a good light lunch. We stumbled upon this place with a lovely terrace - and mercifully sheltered from the wind. The tablecloths and linen napkins were a giveaway - this promised to be upmarket! Warm rolls with amazing local unfiltered olive oil and local sea salt to be dipped in. Fish croquetas sublime - a crunch followed by a melt-in-the-mouth. An utterly inventive dish of perfectly cooked calamari strips masquerading as tagliatelle with a rich pesto coating. A chocolate mousse which sent this half-Frenchman's heart racing. A glass of one of Lanzarote's best dessert wines. And pacharan to end! Absolutely fabulous! We will be back to sample other items off this interesting menu and I can't wait. Beware though. Quality is not cheap. Neither are the wines. And a few personal niggles of mine. I love to see restaurants using local produce - see above for olive oil and sea salt. So why so few Canarian wines and no high quality microbrewed beers on the menu - some even brewed in nearby Aguimes? And - I'm no computer-hating Luddite (I even owned a dotcom company years ago!) - but how I hate menus-by-phone. Who ever the blond older woman is, she it crashing all!!! What a mood, what a terrible hospitality, stay far from that local. If you have children just don’t think about it. !!!!!FAIL!!!!! We was twice there and felt both very uncomfortable. She has a very obviously and rude way to share her …“wishes“? Ordering me what to do with my child, even nothing bad happened, is something inadmissible. Taking the cutlery from my child hands and ordering me to put and FIX the child in the high chair was the worst thing she could do!!
