Review of our first visit.
Litter everywhere - fag end, empty bottles, crisp packets, beer bottle tops. This has clearly been happening for a long long time as it wasn't that recently discarded.
Why??? Such a beautiful island that clearly generates ALOT OF MONEY. Some visitors clearly don't care but why no litter bins on the beach?? The money is clearly there on the island; those residents and businesses shouldn't have to put up with making their beautiful home a bit of an eyesore.
Food (pic of place attached- in the centre square): we had a lovely lunchtime meal yesterday at one of the tavernas. This restaurant (the one I'm leaving this review on) was in line with the very busy one with in the main square. There was very few people at the place we chose to eat at - the burgers were a hit!!!! 4 pints of beer, 6 cokes, 5 meals - 110€. Great service and lovely staff.
Business to avoid! This one lm leaving a review on!?
The busy restaurant we chose not to go to as it was clearly doing well and tables were limited.
My son wanted to buy an ice-cream with his own holiday money.
Told he needed to spend min of 10€ to use card machine. So we honoured their request. Chose 2 bottles of water also.
Lots of chat between staff; headof the restaurant(?) (older female to the left in the corner counting her money by the fridges) informed the staff member to charge my son 12€ - 1 ice lolly, 2 bottles of small water?!?!
I clocked onto this and asked to check the card machine. Sure enough - they were going to charge his 12€!
I asked the staff member why so much. She looked really embarrassed as she clearly knew they were SCAMMING a child.
I told them we wouldn't be giving them our custom and they shouted us out of the shop. Clearly angry that they got rumbled!
Please don't give this shop custom but if you do, CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!!
Otherwise, beautiful island that just needs some love and attention to clean it up!
PLEASE TAKE YOUR...
Read moreTerrible place. Never even think about visiting it, as you will be greatly disappointed. My wife and I decided to celebrate a birthday, came to Tabarka, and were looking for a place to eat. We sat down at a table. It was evident that the seating was crowded and there were many people. We ordered lobster paella and a glass of wine. When the paella was brought to us, I tried one bite and immediately spit it out because it was impossible to eat such a horror. My mouth started burning right away because it seemed that the paella was cooked in a pot that had chemical residues from cleaning agents. The rice was super salty, and there was only half a lobster, without the claw. Terrible service. The atmosphere among the staff was awful. When I went to the restroom, I saw what was happening in the kitchen—total filth and lack of hygiene. The chef was angry and completely incompetent; I would recommend he quit and forget about cooking forever as he doesn't know what it is. When I commented that the dish was terrible and inedible, they made me pay for it and called the police. The waitress was inappropriate and started attacking my wife. It just ruined our mood, appetite, and overall impression of the trip. Complete disappointment. I never recommend anyone visit this place, as it is simply disgusting. It’s a tourist spot, and there are many people like us, so they don't care at all. I recommend the chef forget about the kitchen forever since it’s not his forte, and I suggest the manager and the owner read up on what good service is, because there is none of it here. The kitchen is very dirty, and the chefs work without gloves...
Read moreForget about tourist traps and the reliance on imports for a place on a small island driving up prices - I can only describe my experience there as the absolute worst meal I have ever had.
€50 is what got us barely lukewarm spaghetti, which was clearly from a tin, and the driest chicken escalope with plain potatoes; no sauce, no salad, no flavour. Add to that stale bread, watered down beer, and a coke.
I'm not picky, obnoxious, or difficult to please when it comes to eating out, but this was hands down the most appalling and depressing lunch my girlfriend and I have ever had, and observing the behaviour of the server/manager just made us want to pay and get the hell out of there.
Do not visit this place. Do not waste your time or money on it. Bring a picnic when you come to Tabarca, or just go hungry. Either is preferable. You have to understand you will pay through the nose when visiting this island, but I cannot state this more clearly - avoid this place at all costs. They do not care one jot about you, their service, or their food. They are simply relying on gullible tourists to not...
