We used to go to the patio of La Ventura quite often and didn’t like Los Geraneos took over at the beginning. This year something changed and the food in Los Geraneos became really good. It kept it Andalusian roots but added some modern, international touch. For example, there is now a choice of some quite OK salads and some Curry dishes. It is still not a go to place for vegetarians, but there is something. For example the grilled vegetables and the curry rice without langostinos are excellent. We especially liked the choice of fish and the croquetas de rape y langostinos were the best croquetas I ever had. The Lenguado was fried a bit too long, the Lubina was perfect. All the starters we had and saw are quite large and it is a challenge to have a main dish after one of these. The restaurant might be a bit heavy on the garlic side. Hoy hemos vuelto a esta casa a comer que es un sitio obligado en Almuñecar. Creo que es la quinta vez que vamos. Nuestra experiencia siempre ha sido excelente!. Recordábamos que su esencia cambió, en un tiempo, poniendo menú que por cierto tampoco era para menospreciarlo pero no era su auténtica cocina. Reservamos, esta vez, en la terraza porque íbamos con nuestro amigo Gotelé ( perruno) gran compañero de unos 4 kilos, simpático, cariñoso, pero eso si, ladra a otros amigos que pasan. Eladio nos atendió de la mejor manera y recomendado sus especialidades y que aceptamos algunas que sin lugar a duda eran las mejores, a nuestro parecer. “Gran comida”. Un poco de calor pero es julio y por nuestro Gotele había que estar fuera. La terraza vacía, se sienta una pareja al lado y después un hombre solo….Comemos, bien, super bien… pero ya casi en los postres nuestro amigo Goti ladra a un colega perruno que pasa, la pareja de la lado protesta…… perdón?.. lo siento…. Pero elle habla por teléfono y nos dice que le molestan los ladridos…. Perdon…. Bueno resumo… nuestro perro le había molestado por ella estaba hablando por teléfono, en una terraza, con apenas 4 personas…. Dice! Controle a su perro que molesta, en acento extranjero, alemán… y me molesto! Le digo que si tiene que hablar que se levante y se separe… es una terraza pública…. Además su pareja (aunque no lo sé porque apenas han intercambiado 4 palabras en toda la comida) nos dice …. “Controle a su perro” como?. O a su amo por que molesta!,, Me enfado y mucho! Con mucho tacto lo dueños les ofrecen entrar al local….. Dicen por ahí que los españoles tenemos mala educación…. Pero algunos europeos (en este caso alemanes) son, se creen superiores y mejor educados… NOOOOO! Creo que nos infravaloramos, si!, nos traen dinero, pero no son mejores que nosotros… Gracias a Eladio, su equipo y por todos sus comentarios en apoyo a nosotros….volveremos a este gran restaurante que no solo por su trato sino por su cocina les engrandece. Perdón por la turra pero me parece importante decir que si!, vivimos en gran medida del turismo de fuera de España pero a veces pueden ser prescindibles. Gracias “Los Geranios” de Almuñecar Fdo.
