I visited this strand bar today, April 5, 2025, and I can honestly say I’ve never experienced such verschrikkelijk (terrible) service in my life. I’m Dutch, and let’s be honest, service in Nederland isn’t exactly famous for being top-notch either, but what I encountered here was on a whole other level of unfriendliness—zo ongelooflijk onvriendelijk! The muscular Spanish waiter with short black hair and a white shirt? He acted like he was doing me a favor by even acknowledging my existence. No smile, no “hola,” just pure arrogance. The food? Overpriced and tasted like it was scraped off the beach and thrown on a plate. The drinks? My cerveza was warm, and when I politely asked for a cold one, he rolled his eyes like I’d insulted his entire familia. The atmosphere? Loud, chaotic, and not in a fun way—more like a “get me out of here” way. And don’t get me started on how long it took to get anything—espera, espera, espera, but nothing comes! People, doe jezelf een plezier (do yourself a favor) and NEVER visit Chiringuito El Bambu. If you want to waste your money, throw it into the sea instead—you’ll feel better about it. This place is a disaster, and I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. Adiós to this rubbish—save your time and euros for somewhere that actually cares about...

Been to this place 1 year ago and we had a very pleasant experience, both on food and service. Came back this year and tried it twice... first was on an evening, place was half empty yet the head waiter told us that we can sit but would need to wait at least one hour for food 😳 And today we wanted to try for lunch... arrived, place not even full a third, got a table and... not being attended for a long time, not even asked if we wanted a drink! Got eventually the attention and menu card, but he buggered off again without asking us for drinks 😠 Waited again, saw another family experiencing the same, they had enough and left, so we decided to leave! The head waiter looked as if he could not understand our decision and also blamed the waiter... not good considering he was most time just standing around. In summary: not the place we enjoyed and definitely we will not be back...

We came here yesterday morning and ordered coffee, we waited and waited, it was reasonably busy, still we waited, other people came in after us, and we noticed their order's came out, we got the waiter's attention and he acknowledged us and we heard him shout our order across to the bar, still we waited, he then cleared a nearby table and we asked if he could clean our table (he wasn't actually cleaning any tables, even after he cleared them!) He didn't say anything, just walked off... We basically got board with waiting and walked out... We have been here many times, having moved nearby 5 year's ago and although it's not exactly service with a smile, the coffee is good and the setting is lovely... However we won't be coming back,...

To be fair we only went to about 6 or 7 restaurants but Bambu was by far my favourite. There were other great basic tapas places but for a gorgeous meal, beautiful decor, right on the beach, funny staff who tried hard to speak English and the best seafood soup I've ever had (I've had a few!) you can't do better. The only two things that were not perfect were they let people smoke inside - luckily not while we were earing - disgustng! and the boys did forget a few things they were supposed to bring to our table about 5 times until it was too late but we forgave them. Went back for morning coffee - beautiful views right on the beach, we went back for lunch outside in the sun. And all this in Feb!

We had such a lovely and delicious experience at Bambu during our stay in La Herradura that we decided to host our elopement welcome cocktail hour there later in the week. The staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating as well as patient with our rusty Spanish. For our group of 26 they set up a perfect area on the beachside of the restaurant so we were out of the way of the other diners and the service was very attentive. All the tapas we had were exceptional, the wine was great, and honestly the burger was so good!
